REFBIO II s'inscrit dans l'Axe prioritaire 1, PI1b et OE1, en réponse aux défis identifiés dans le Diagnostic territorial: encourager le travail en réseau des centres de recherche, faciliter le transfert et la valorisation des résultats de la RDI vers le secteur privé et adapter les lignes de recherche des centres de recherche à la RIS3. L'objectif général de REFBIO II est la consolidation de la coopération transfrontalière dans le domaine de la biomédecine par l'intensification de la collaboration entre entités de recherche, la stimulation de l'innovation et le transfert et l'exploitation des résultats de la R&D auprès des entreprises et les clusters du territoire transfrontalier. REFBIO II est un projet de continuité qui intègre de nouveaux partenaires, un nouveau territoire et de nouveaux éléments par rapport à REFBIO I, dans le but de favoriser l'innovation et le transfert efficace des résultats de la R&D biomédicale et de promouvoir sa mise en valeur dans l'espace Pyrénées. REFBIO II permettra la mise en œuvre d'un minimum de 12 projets collaboratifs de RDI à fort potentiel d'application ainsi que le transfert auprès des entreprises et des clusters de 15 résultats de RDI et technologies dans le domaine de la santé, au plus grand bénéfice des chercheurs, des entreprises et des étudiants du territoire transfrontalier. La large diffusion des résultats du projet et les contacts des partenaires permettront également de toucher autres parties prenantes au niveau européen.

REFBIO II se enmarca en el Eje prioritario 1, PI 1b y OE1, dando respuesta a los retos identificados en el Diagnóstico Territorial: fomentar el trabajo en red de los centros de investigación, facilitar la transferencia y valorización de resultados de la I+D+i hacia el sector privado y adaptar las líneas de investigación de los centros de investigación a las RIS3. El objetivo general de REFBIO II es la consolidación de la cooperación transfronteriza en el ámbito de la biomedicina, mediante la intensificación de la colaboración entre entidades de investigación, el estímulo de la innovación y la transferencia y explotación de los resultados de I+D hacia las empresas y clusters del territorio. REFBIO II es un proyecto de continuidad que incorpora nuevos socios, un nuevo territorio y además incorpora elementos originales con respecto a REFBIO I ya que permitirá impulsar la innovación y la transferencia efectiva de resultados de la I+D biomédica y fomentar su valorización en el espacio Pirineos. REFBIO II permitirá la ejecución de un mínimo de 12 proyectos colaborativos transfronterizos de I+D+i con fuerte potencial de aplicación así como la transferencia a empresas y clusters de 15 resultados de I+D+i y tecnologías en el área de la salud, beneficiando directamente a investigadores, empresas y estudiantes del territorio transfronterizo. La amplia difusión de los resultados del proyecto y los contactos de los socios permitirá además llegar a otros actores a nivel Europeo.

REFBIO II in included under Priority Axis 1, IP 1b & OE1, as it responds to challenges identified in the Territorial Diagnosis: foster networks of research centres, ease transfer and valorization of RTDI results towards the private sector & adapt the research lines of the RTDI centers to the RIS3. REFBIO II's overall objetive is to consolidate the cross-border cooperation in the area of biomedicine, through the intensification of the collaboration among research centres, stimulation of innovation, transfer and exploitation of RTDI results towards companies and clusters of the territory. REFBIO II is a continuation project, that includes news partners, a new territory and also original elements with respect to REFBIO I, as it will foster innovation and the effective transfer of biomedical RTDI results and their valorization in the Pyrenees area. REFBIO II will allow the development of a minimum of 12 cross-border collaborative RTDI projects with high application potential, as well as the transfer to companies and clusters of 15 RTDI results in the health area, thus benefitting directly researchers, companies and students in the cross-border area. A wide dissemination of the project results and the partners' wide contact base will also allow reaching other actors across Europe.

Achievements (FR):

Depuis sa création, Refbio vise à renforcer la coopération transfrontalière dans la recherche biomédicale et, au cours de cette deuxième phase, l’accent a été mis sur l’innovation, l’exploitation et le transfert des résultats. Dans ce sens, au cours de la période 2016-2019, 49 groupes de recherche ont été impliqués dans le développement de 20 projets : 7 projets de recherche et 13 projets d’innovation et de transfert technologique. Ces initiatives, qui relèvent des domaines de la thérapie cellulaire, de l’oncologie, des neurosciences, de la génétique, de l’épidémiologie, des maladies cardiovasculaires, des maladies infectieuses, des technologies de la santé, des biobanques et des essais cliniques, ont permis de créer 23 nouvelles embauches dans les entités partenaires. De plus, Refbio II a organisé deux ateliers de collaboration interrégionale, à Bilbao et à Toulouse, impliquant plus de 300 professionnels du secteur biomédical. Parmi les participants figuraient des représentants de 20 entreprises, qui ont établi plus de 100 contacts pour le développement de nouvelles collaborations transfrontalières.

Achievements (EN):

Since its inception, Refbio aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation in biomedical research and in this second phase the focus has been on innovation, exploitation and transfer of results. In this sense, during the period 2016-2019, 49 research groups were involved in the development of 20 projects: 7 research projects and 13 innovation and technology transfer projects. These initiatives, in the areas of cell therapy, oncology, neuroscience, genetics, epidemiology, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, health technologies, biobanks and clinical trials, created 23 new hires in partner entities. In addition, Refbio II organised two interregional collaboration workshops, in Bilbao and Toulouse, involving more than 300 professionals from the biomedical sector. Participants included representatives of 20 companies, who established more than 100 contacts for the development of new cross-border collaborations.
