The REAMIT project proposes to adapt and apply existing innovative technology to food supply chains in NWE to reduce food waste and hence improve resource efficiency. Reducing food waste is of highest priority for the EU (88Mt or € 143B wasted per year). The EU has committed to halving food waste by 2030 by focusing on all stages in the supply chain. 35% of food waste in EU-28 has occurred in supply chains in 2012. Though technologies exist to reduce food waste, they have not been applied to food supply chains. REAMIT will focus on fruits, vegetables, meat and fish as these are wasted in large quantities. The supply chain includes farms, packaging sites, food processors, distribution, logistics, wholesalers and retailers. The project will be carried out in Ireland, Germany, France, UK and the Netherlands due to the amount of interconnected food supply chains and huge food waste in these countries. REAMIT will adapt existing Internet of Things and Big Data technologies to best fit the needs of the food supply chain management system in NWE. Through testing and adaptation, these technologies will be enabled to continuously monitor and record food quality and signal potential food quality issues. Through analytics, owners of 'food to be at risk of becoming waste' will be provided with decision support options to minimise food waste including redistribution to nearby customers. REAMIT project will save 1.8Mt of food waste or €3B per year in NWE, avoid 5.5Mt/yr of CO2 emissions, test and operationalise 8 solutions, and, support 20 enterprises. The technologies will be self-sustaining at the end of the project. They will be made available to the public via REAMIT website and social media.The long-term effects of REAMIT will be optimising (re)use of food and natural resources in NWE economies and a consortium capable of jointly addressing the challenges in food sector.

Ziel des REAMIT-Projekt ist, vorhandene innovative Technologien an Lebensmittelversorgungsketten in NWE anzupassen, um Lebensmittelverschwendung zu reduzieren und die Ressourceneffizienz zu verbessern. Die Reduktion von Lebensmittelabfällen hat für die EU höchste Priorität (88 Mio. Tonnen oder 143 Mrd. Euro pro Jahr werden derzeit verschwendet). Die EU hat zugesagt, diese Verschwendung bis 2030 durch Konzentration auf alle Phasen der Lieferkette zu halbieren. Im Jahr 2012 sind 35% der Lebensmittelabfälle in der EU-28 allein in Lieferketten aufgetreten. Obwohl bereits Technologien zur Senkung der Verschwendung existieren, wurden sie in den Versorgungsketten nicht eingesetzt. REAMIT wird sich auf Obst, Gemüse, Fleisch und Fisch konzentrieren, da diese in großen Mengen verschwendet werden. Die Lieferkette umfasst Betriebe, Verpackungsstandorte, Verarbeiter, Vertrieb, Logistik und Händler. REAMIT wird bestehende Internet of Things- und Big Data-Technologien an die Bedürfnisse der Lebensmittelversorgung in NWE anpassen. Diese Technologien ermöglichen so, die Qualität von Lebensmitteln kontinuierlich zu überwachen, aufzuzeichnen und Probleme zu melden. Den Beteiligten werden so Hilfen zu Entscheidungen geliefert, mit denen die Verschwendung von Lebensmitteln signifikant eingedämmt und Umverteilungen minimiert werden können.Das REAMIT-Projekt wird 1,8 Mio. Tonnen Lebensmittelabfälle oder 3B € pro Jahr in NWE einsparen, 5,5 Mio. Tonnen CO2-Emissionen vermeiden, 8 Lösungen testen und umsetzen und 20 Unternehmen unterstützen. Die Technologien werden sich am Ende des Projekts selbst tragen. Sie werden der Öffentlichkeit über die REAMIT-Website und soziale Medien zugänglich gemacht.

Le projet REAMIT propose d'adapter les technologies innovantes existantes et de les appliquer dans le système de gestion de la chaîne d'approvisionnement agroalimentaire en ENO. La réduction des déchets alimentaires est une priorité absolue pour l'UE (88M tonnes ou 143B€ par an de déchets) et s'est engagée à réduire de moitié le gaspillage alimentaire d'ici 2030 en se concentrant sur toutes les étapes de la chaîne d'approvisionnement. Bien que 35% du gaspillage alimentaire dans l'UE-28 ait eu lieu dans la chaîne d'approvisionnement en 2012 et que des technologies existent pour réduire le gaspillage alimentaire, elles n'ont pas été appliquées à la chaîne d'approvisionnement.La chaîne d'approvisionnement comprend les transformateurs d'aliments, la distribution, la logistique et les grossistes. Le projet sera réalisé en FR, UK, IR, DE & NL, en raison de la quantité de chaînes d'approvisionnement alimentaire interconnectées et du gaspillage alimentaire majeur dans ces pays. REAMIT adaptera les technologies existantes de l'Internet des Objets et des Big Data (Spectroscopie Raman et CyberBar) pour répondre au mieux aux besoins et aux spécificités du système de gestion des chaînes d'approvisionnement agroalimentaire en ENO. Grâce aux tests et à l'adaptation, ces technologies seront en mesure de surveiller et d'enregistrer en permanence la qualité des aliments; avertir et signaler les problèmes de qualité des aliments potentiels et à venir, et lier la «nourriture à risque de devenir un déchet» avec les clients à proximité.Le projet REAMIT épargnera 1,8Mtonnes de déchets alimentaires ou 3B€ par an en ENO. Il évitera 5,5Mtonnes par an d’émissions CO2, testera et opèrera 8 solutions et soutiendra 20 entreprises.
