CREATURES aims at preserving cultural heritage, promoting sustainable and experiential tourism in the ADRION Region by exploiting Cultural&Creative Industries’(CCI) potential, finding a right balance between innovation and conservation of the Adrion rich cultural heritage. The Project, therefore, will develop actions and tools for raising competencies, support decision making processes and test the solution proposed: - the Joint Acceleration Programme will increase (especially) CCI-related SMEs and start-ups’ capacities to do business supporting cultural heritage preservation and sustainable tourism. - Policy Recommendations, Local Action Plans and related Pilot Activities will provide decision makers with new strategic tools useful to better support CCI in the project fields. - Mobile app and multimedia installations will attract tourists (especially young people) in the new CreaTourES routes and encourage them to explore ADRION cultural heritage in an ‘alternative’ way. The project will generate positive changes on the ADRION Region at 3 levels: economic (increased CC SMEs-startups’ competitiveness and tourist flows attracted by the CreaTourES routes offered); cultural (greater valorization of cultural heritage); strategic (improved policies promoting a more integrated vision of CCI). The chosen approach will well-balance beneficiaries’ increased knowledge & skills, being integrated, participatory and transnational, exploiting CCI sector and its key-role in economic growth and cultural valorisation of the ADRION Region, and boosting high-quality and sustainable tourist offer through an experiential approach. Spill-over effects will be: enhanced collaboration among tourism-CCIs-decision makers, revitalised marginal areas, diversified and innovative tourism offers, extended seasonality.

Achievements (EN):

CREATURES run activities to preserve cultural heritage sites of the region, promoting sustainable and experiential tourism by exploiting Cultural&Creative Industries’(CCI) potential. Thanks to the project, the trend of exploring local communities as a way to promote sustainable tourism, found a practical spillover on the initiative taken by the Metropolitan City of Bologna, one of the project’s partners. 10 selected business projects operating in the mountain tourism will be supported in their improvement of skills and business development. The selected SMEs and startups (Enjoy Appennino, Vivi Appennino, Appennino Geopark, Appennino Slow, Foiatonda, Masala Viaggi, UIT Colli Bolognesi, Valsamoggia Bike, Appennino 4 Trek, Consorzio Corno alle Scale Quota 1945) will benefit from tailor made trainings aiming to help attract diversified targets of tourists and improve the type of offers and services. Yet another initiative in the frame of the project, a digital map of the ancient city of Aquileia was developed. The Talking Map of Aquileia gives voice to the tangible and intangible cultural Heritage of the UNESCO site, by combining storytelling methodology, and participatory and innovative approaches. Various artists and testimonials contributed to the development of the map. This initiative has been included in the electronic catalogue of the project, a comprehensive collection of 27 best practices inspired by the rich and diverse cultural (tangible and intangible) and natural heritage of the ADRION Region and classified according to the 5 senses (touch, smell, feel, hear, taste). The Catalogue has been produced by the Bosnian partner, the School of Economics and Business of Sarajevo and shows creative ideas for festival organisation, museum development, unique outdoor tours, use of technological innovation and business ideas creation.

Expected Results (EN): Level of capacity for the stakeholders in the fields of natural and cultural heritage protection and tourism to sustainably valorise natural and cultural heritage as a growth asset

Expected Outputs (EN):

CreaTourES Project's main results will be: - Improved understanding, among ADRION Partner States, on the high socio-cultural & economic potential of CCI as field of transnational cooperation to be further explored in close relation to sustainable tourism and cultural heritage preservation-valorisation. - Increased integration and strengthened transnational collaboration between key-actors of CCI, sustainable tourism & cultural heritage sectors at local, regional, national and ADRION Region level. - Enhanced “body of knowledge”, at ADRION R. level, through transnational thematic researches, support tools, pilot actions and experimentations developed by PPs in the project fields. - Improved policies and practices supporting CCI, within a more integrated and joint ADRION strategy aimed at the sustainable socio-cultural development and economic growth of the Region through the promotion of sustainable, smart and innovative tourism. - Well-defined transnational identity and raised awareness of PPs and relevant stakeholders on common cultural heritage in the ADRION area as an orientation framework for individual, innovative and sustainable actions in the project fields. - Improved responsible tourism behaviour of all stakeholders, especially young tourists, for the development of jointly agreed utilisation approaches. - Preserved cultural heritage of partner regions, valorised in a sustainable, innovative and creative way, under the ADRION common brand. - Diversified tourism quality products-services in the ADRION partner regions involved. - Reduced seasonality of tourism demand in the Region. Project expected results will contribute to the Programme result indicator by enhancing knowledge and capacities/skills of CCI-related entrepreneurs, professionals of tourism & cultural heritage sectors, and decision makers on CCI and their key-role in the fields of cultural heritage preservation-valorisation, and sustainable tourism as a key-growth asset.
