Correction of partnership locations: Details
This workflow aims to identify, review, and correct partnership locations in keep.eu where the assigned geographical information may be wrong or inconsistent.
The workflow concerns partnership location data, including:
- Address information;
- Country names;
- Coordinates;
- NUTS codes;
- Assigned regions or countries.
This workflow is part of keep.eu’s data-quality processes and supports the reliability of geographical searches, maps, statistics, and territorial analysis.
Frequency
This workflow follows a three-month cycle. It is performed in February, May, August, and November.
This means that the correction of partnership locations is not only performed when individual issues are noticed, but as a recurring operational process.
Step H1. Generation of the partnership relocation Excel file
This workflow starts with the generation of an Excel file from Django administration. The data manager generates this file by clicking on the link ‘Partnership relocation’ at the bottom of the Partnerships page in Django Admin (‘Partnerships’ is also an item of Django Admin’s main menu). The selected execution mode of the generated Excel file is ‘Detect & Relocate’, with the maximum allowed distance between the partnership’s point and the assigned region or country set at 0.05. The file thus generated contains detected issues for all partnership locations.
The generated file is used as the operational basis for reviewing possible partnership location problems.
H2. Review of country names, addresses, and NUTS codes
The data manager reviews the Excel file to check whether the correct country name, address, and NUTS code are inserted for each detected case.
During this review, the data manager identifies incorrect addresses, incorrect country names, and cases where NUTS codes need to be updated in the corresponding records.
H3. Correction of wrong NUTS regions, country names or addresses
If wrong NUTS regions, country names or addresses are identified, the data manager corrects them. Corrections may be made in Kamut or in Django administration. This depends on where the incorrect information is stored and how the correction needs to be applied.
Examples of corrections under this step include:
- Amending a wrong NUTS region;
- Amending a wrong country name;
- Correcting a wrong address;
- Updating the relevant partnership record so that the partnership location is consistent.
This step closes the workflow.
