Languages to include in Projects and documents’ text search. Why use this filter?

This function eliminates possible duplication of terms with very different meanings in different languages. It can help users reach their required information faster.

For example, if looking for maritime issues using the English term ‘sea’ in text search, leaving Spanish out would reduce the number of retrieved projects since a very used word in Spanish is the subjunctive tense of the verb to be (‘sea’).

One tip: To bring down the number of projects or documents in search results, try to use elaborated phrases in text search, since, to continue with the example of ‘sea’, this retrieves not only the word ‘sea’ but also all words with the particle ‘sea’ in them (e.g., ‘search’, ‘research’).

Limitations of language criteria

In the cases of fields with only a few words, it is extremely difficult for the software to distinguish languages, and is therefore prone to error. For example, if a project is named keep.eu, what is the language of this name?  Please use language selection only as a means to find the projects that you need. These filters do not make way for any extrapolation on the use of languages in the database.
