The aim of the international DIVA project is to shape an innovation environment with a link between the cultural and creative sectors and the economy, thereby creating - in the field of digital transformation - technologies for intelligent communities in which SMEs emerge and develop with their innovative capacity and successfully perform on the global market. In the DIVA project, we will establish cross-border ecosystem connections between existing and new transdisciplinary innovation platforms, involving the co-creation of economics, artistic thinking, design thinking and various participatory projects. By analysing, mapping, shaping, training and piloting, we will make an ecosystem of innovation, production and users possible, in which chain structures will bring innovators together with the economy so that the flow from idea to verified solution is as fast, sustainable in the long term and user-friendly. Stabilizing connections in a cross-border ecosystem is an opportunity to connect and develop the capabilities of advanced technology companies and smart communities. These, in the near future, will be at the forefront of increasing the reaction capacity of traditional economic subjects and will give the wider society the opportunity to face the challenges of digital transformation and a circular economy.

Lo scopo del progetto internazionale DIVA e plasmare un ambiente di innovazione con un collegamento tra i settori culturali e creativi e l'economia e in questo modo creare - nel campo della trasformazione digitale - tecnologie per comunità intelligenti in cui le PMI emergono e si sviluppano con la loro capacita innovativa e si esibiscono con successo sul mercato globale. Nel progetto DIVA, stabiliremo connessioni di ecosistemi transfrontalieri tra piattaforme di innovazione transdisciplinari esistenti e nuove, in cui si svolgerà la co-creazione di economia, pensiero artistico, design thinking e vari progetti partecipativi. Analizzando, mappando, modellando, formando e pilotando, consentiremo il funzionamento di un ecosistema d’innovazione, produzione e utente in cui le strutture a catena raggrupperanno gli innovatori con l'economia, in modo che il flusso dall'idea alla soluzione verificata sia altrettanto rapido, sostenibile a lungo termine e user-friendly. La stabilizzazione delle connessioni in un ecosistema transfrontaliero e un'opportunità per collegare e sviluppare le capacita di aziende tecnologiche avanzate e comunità intelligenti. Queste, nel futuro prossimo, saranno in prima linea ad aumentare la capacita di reazione dei soggetti economici tradizionali e dara la possibilità alla società più ampia di affrontare le sfide della trasformazione digitale e di un'economia circolare.

Namen mednarodnega projekta DIVA je vzpostavitev inovacijskega okolja s povezavo kreativnega sektorja in gospodarstva, ki bodo na področju digitalne transformacje ustvarjale pametne tehnologije za skupnosti in tako uspešno nastopale na globalnem trgu. V projektu DIVA bomo vzpostavili čezmejne ekosistemske povezave med obstoječimi in novimi transdisciplinarnimi inovacijskimi platformami v okviru katerih bo potekalo soustvarjanje gospodarstva, umetnosti (art thinking), oblikovanja (design thinking) in različnih družbenih iniciativ (participatory design). Z analiziranjem, mapiranjem, modeliranjem, izobraževanjem in pilotiranjem bomo omogočili delovanje inovacijskega, produkcijskega in uporabniškega ekosistema v katerem bodo verižne strukture spenjale inovatorje z gospodarstvom tako, da je pretok od ideje do preverjene rešitve čim hitrejši in dolgoročno vzdržen ter uporabnikom prijazen. Vzpostavljanje čezmejnih ekosistemskih povezav je priložnost za povezovanje in razvijanje kapacitet naprednih tehnoloških podjetij in pametnih skupnosti. Te bodo v bližnji prihodnosti prevzemale vodilno vlogo pri dvigovanju pripravljenosti tradicionalnih gospodarskih subjektov in za opolnomočenje najširše družbe za sprejemanje izzivov digitalne transformacije in krožnega gospodarstva.

Achievements (EN):

The basic purpose of the DIVA project was to create an innovation environment related to the economy (SME), which will successfully perform on the global market in the field of digital transformation and smart technologies and communities. Within the framework of the project, we established ecosystem connections between existing and newly established innovation platforms in which the co-creation of economy, art thinking, design thinking and various social initiatives took place. By mapping, analysing, modelling and piloting, we enabled the inception of an innovation, production and user ecosystem, in which chain structures were established in which different chain-rings cling innovators with the economy, so that the flow from idea to a verified and practical solution is as fast and long-term successful (sustainable) as possible. Creating cross-border ecosystem connections is seen as an opportunity to connect and develop the capacities of advanced technology companies and technologically literate social groups that will take the lead in raising the readiness level of traditional industry and mainstream society to adopt the principles of digital transformation and the circular economy. Main results: In the first phase of the project DIVA, we created the conditions for a better understanding of the innovation dynamics in which we collected, systematized and analyzed various examples of collaborations between intermedia art, creative practices and the economy. In this way, we created methodological frameworks for establishing innovative development platforms that will take part in technological and social innovations for the society of the future. In the second phase of the project, we established regional innovation hubs that were linked to interested SMEs. Here we developed methodological approaches for cooperation with modern and traditional companies that were able to participate in innovation protocols to address their needs. At the same time, we led a series of support activities to create a participatory environment for individuals and social groups, which were sensitized and educated for quality and participatory coexistence with new high-tech solutions. The third level of the project was the realisation of 21 pilot projects with which we tested the cooperation between individual actors in the innovation, development and application processes regardless of whether the results of pilots were technological application or social innovation. In this regard, it is important to emphasize that due to their experimental and developmental nature, pilots were not necessarily directed towards actual results on the market. CONCLUSIONS The DIVA project is the launch of activities that aim at successful cooperation between representatives of business and the cultural and creative industries. More new projects addressing the theme of cooperation between SMEs and CCIs are needed to achieve lasting effects in the cross-border area. Cooperation between the different areas and partners is essential and necessary to bring satisfaction and positive changes in the cross-border area. Cross-border activities have been suspended for the 2020-2022 pandemic and DIVA results need to be proofed ad tested in a newly funded project. It is the cross-border dimension, which is essential for the project, that has suffered the most, as can be seen in the Validation Report on the methodology used (DIVA Collaboration model) and on the pilot actions. The DIVA Cooperation Model is one of the main documents of the project. It is a rich document that is intended to serve as a basis or starting point for projects and actions that promote creative innovation and the introduction of Design and Art thinking approaches in innovation processes in the economy. In view of the long-term effects, it would be important to broaden and evaluate the profile of the innovation catalyst, the person with a creative mindset and a production-oriented attitude who can boost creativity in traditional SMEs. The knowledge of innovation catalysts on how to innovate creatively should be shared in formal and informal ways and the insights transferred to other target groups. The call for pilot projects represented an important best practice that could be used in future projects, despite legislative differences between the two countries which caused some initial problems. The call provided an opportunity for traditional companies and organisations from the cultural and creative sectors to work together, while also encouraging further development for those still sceptical and reluctant to engage in such cooperation. The assistance and guidance role of DIVA HUBs in strengthening cooperation between traditional SMEs and creative companies and/or professionals is essential. HUBs should continue to act as centres of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative activity, offering individuals and collectives a stimulating meeting environment and opportunities to create concrete innovative products or services. It is almost essential that DIVA HUBs are involved in other projects as spaces for socializing, networking, experimenting and innovating in order to address the challenges of today's society and the local cross-border environment. The best practices of the call and cross-border cooperation could be important results to be used in a future project. The Nova Gorica-Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025 represents another opportunity to involve the DIVA partnership in activities related to GO2025!

Expected Results (EN):

The primary objective of the project is to create a recognisable and recognised ecosystem of cross-border cooperation in which social and technological innovation for the society of the future can flourish. The aim is to improve cross-border cooperation between innovative Italian and Slovenian platforms, education and training institutions, and SMEs, paying particular attention to the development and implementation of creative methodologies that allow the realisation of visionary ideas in technological, commercial and social innovations.

L’obiettivo primario del progetto è la creazione di un ecosistema riconoscibile e riconosciuto di cooperazione transfrontaliera in cui l’innovazione sociale e tecnologica per la società del futuro possa prosperare. L’intento è il miglioramento della cooperazione transfrontaliera tra piattaforme innovative italiane e slovene, istituzioni di istruzione e formazione, e PMI, ponendo particolare attenzione allo sviluppo e realizzazione di metodologie creative che permettano la concretizzazione di idee visionarie in innovazioni tecnologiche, commerciali e sociali.

Splošni cilj projekta je ustvariti prepoznaven ekosistem čezmejnega sodelovanja v katerem bodo vznikale družbene in tehnološke inovacije za družbo prihodnosti. Osnovna namera je izboljšati čezmejno sodelovanje med italijanskimi in slovenskimi inovacijskimi platformami, izobraževalnimi ustanovami, ter malimi in srednje velikimi podjetji, pri čemer je treba posebno pozornost nameniti razvoj in implementacijo metodologij s katerimi bomo omogočali pretok vizionarskih idej v tehnološke, komercialne in socialne inovacije.

Nella prima fase del progetto, il partenariato porrà le basi per un migliore comprensione delle dinamiche dell’innovazione, raccogliendo, sistematizzando ed analizzando diversi esempi di collaborazione tra arti dello spettacolo, multimediali, prassi creative e mondo delle imprese. Così facendo, si creeranno i fondamenti metodologici per stabilire piattaforme, servizi e strumenti per lo sviluppo dell’innovazione che contribuiranno all’innovazione tecnologica e sociale della società del futuro. Nella seconda fase progettuale, saranno stabiliti hub dell’innovazione regionali che collegheranno le PMI interessate con gli operatori culturali e le imprese creative. Saranno sviluppati approcci metodologici e design-oriented per la cooperazione con imprese manifatturiere e di servizi, che parteciperanno ai modelli/protocolli per l’innovazione capaci di rispondere ai loro fabbisogni e a quelli dei mercati. Contemporaneamente, saranno lanciate una serie di iniziative di supporto per favorire lo sviluppo di un contesto partecipativo per gli individui, le organizzazioni e i gruppi di società cui appartengono, al fine di sensibilizzarli ed educarli alla collaborazione di qualità e partecipativa con nuove soluzioni altamente tecnologiche e creative. La terza fase sarà la realizzazione di almeno 20 progetti pilota transfrontalieri con i quali sperimentare la cooperazione tra ciascun soggetto dell’innovazione, operatori creativi e PMI, all’interno dei processi di innovazione, sviluppo e applicazione, a prescindere dall’orientamento tecnologico o sociale del risultato di ciascun progetto.

Expected Outputs (SL):

V prvi fazi projekta DIVA bomo ustvarili pogoje za boljše razumevanje inovacijskih dinamik v katerih bomo zbrali, sistematizirali in analizirali različne primere sodelovanj med inter-medijsko uprizoritveno umetnostjo, ustvarjalnimi praksami in gospodarstvom. Na ta način bomo ustvarili metodološke okvire za vzpostavljanje razvojnih platform, ki bodo sodelovale pri tehnoloških in družbenih inovacijah za družbo prihodnosti. V drugi fazi projekta bomo vzpostavili regionalna inovacijska vozlišča, ki jih bomo povezali z zainteresiranimi SME. Tu bomo vzpostavili metodološke pristope za sodelovanje z sodobnimi in tradicionalnimi podjetji, ki bodo lahko participirale v inovacijskih protokolih s katerimi bomo reševali njihove potrebe. Istočasno bomo vodili niz podpornih dejavnosti s katerimi bomo ustvarjali participativno okolje za posameznike in družbene skupine, ki jih bomo senzibilizirali in izobraževali za kvalitetno sobivanje z novimi visokotehnološkimi rešitvami. Tretja raven projekta bo realizacija vsaj 20 konkretnih čezmejnih pilotnih projektov s katerimi bomo testirali sodelovanje med posameznimi akterji v inovacijskih, razvojnih in aplikativnih procesih neglede na to ali bo rezultat pilotov tehnološka aplikacija ali družbena inovacija.
