Description (DE):

Der Einsatz von Wasserstoff (H2) gilt als die Schlüsseltechnologie der Zukunft. Wasserstoff ist ein farb- und geruchsloses, giftfreies Gas, das als Energieträger genutzt werden kann. Aktuell existieren nur teilweise durchentwickelte, erprobte, marktreife, wirtschaftlich interessante Technologien und Methoden für die Erzeugung, Speicherung, den Transport und die Nutzung von Wasserstoff. Insbesondere aber fehlt es an der Zusammenführung von Einzelkomponenten zu einem Gesamtsystem sowie an Strategien, um einen modularen Aufbau einer Wasserstoffkette vorzunehmen, die sukzessive einer durchgängigen Applikation dient. Zu den Anwendungsbereichen zählen u.a. die Wärme-/ Elektrizitätsversorgung und andere Anwendungen der landseitigen Industrie, die Wohnbebauung und der multimodale Transport inklusive Verwendung als Treibstoff in der Schifffahrt. Ziel des Projekts H2Watt ist es, die Wirtschaft beiderseits der Grenze sektorenübergreifend für die neuen Anforderungen und Potenziale, die sich durch die Einführung der Schlüsseltechnologie Wasserstoff ergeben, vorzubereiten und die technologische (Weiter)Entwicklung sowie den Wissenstransfer im Bereich Wasserstoff-Wirtschaft voranzutreiben. Dies erfolgt am Beispiel der Fallstudien Ameland (NL) und Borkum (D). In H2Watt stehen folgende Maßnahmen im Fokus: - Aufbau Wasserstoff-Reallabor/ Test-Infrastruktur Ameland und Borkum - Anwendung Reallabor/ Test-Infrastruktur für Systementwicklungen der Projektpartner, aber auch als Demonstrationsplattform für Komponenten/ Fragestellungen weiterer Unternehmen und Einrichtungen (insbesondere KMU) - (Weiter)Entwicklung von marktorientierten Umwelttechnologien, Hightech Systemen, Komponenten und Werkstoffen (u.a. Verwendung von Mikro- und Nanomaterialien sowie von innovativen Metall- und Oberflächenlegierungen) - Prozessentwicklung und -modellierung einer Wasserstoff-Wertschöpfungskette (inklusive Life-Cycle-Assessment) - Entwicklung von Technologie-Konzepten

The use of hydrogen (H2) is regarded as the key technology of the future. Hydrogen is a colorless, odorless, poison-free gas that can be used as an energy carrier. Currently there are only partially developed, tested, marketable, economically interesting technologies and methods available for the production, storage, transport and use of hydrogen. In particular, however, there is a lack of the combination of individual components to form an overall system and of strategies for a modular structure of a hydrogen chain that successively serves a continuous application. Application areas include heat/electricity supply and other land-based industrial applications, residential construction and multimodal transport, including use as fuel in shipping. The aim of the H2Watt project is to prepare the economy on both sides of the border across sectors for the new requirements and potentials arising from the introduction of the key technology hydrogen and to promote technological (further) development and knowledge transfer in the field of hydrogen economy. This is done using the case studies Ameland (NL) and Borkum (D) as examples. H2Watt" focuses on the following measures: - Development of hydrogen real laboratory / test infrastructure Ameland and Borkum - Application of real laboratory/test infrastructure for system developments of the project partners, but also as demonstration platform for components/issues of other companies and institutions (especially SMEs) - (Further) development of market-oriented environmental technologies, high-tech systems, components and materials (e.g. use of micro- and nanomaterials as well as innovative metal and surface alloys) - Process development and modelling of a hydrogen value chain (including life cycle assessment) - Development of technology concepts for different user groups (interoperability)

Description (NL):

De gebruik van waterstof (H2) wordt beschouwd als belangrijkste sleuteltechnologie voor de toekomst. Waterstof is een kleurloos, reukloos, gifvrij gas dat als energiedrager kan worden gebruikt. Op dit moment zijn er slechts gedeeltelijk ontwikkelde, geteste, verkoopbare, economisch interessante technologieën en methoden voor de productie, de opslag, het transport en het gebruik van waterstof. Met name ontbreekt het echter aan de combinatie van afzonderlijke componenten om een totaalsysteem te vormen en aan strategieën voor een modulaire structuur van een waterstofketen die achtereenvolgens een continue toepassing dient. Toepassingsgebieden zijn onder meer warmte- en elektriciteitsverzorging en andere industriële toepassingen te land, de woningbouw en multimodaal transport alsmede het gebruik als brandstof voor de scheepvaart. Het H2Watt-project heeft tot doel de economie aan weerszijden van de grens, over de sectoren heen, voor te bereiden op de nieuwe eisen en mogelijkheden die voortvloeien uit de introductie van de sleuteltechnologie waterstof en ook de technologische (verdere) ontwikkeling en kennisoverdracht op het gebied van de waterstofeconomie te bevorderen. Dit gebeurt aan de hand van casestudies voor Ameland (NL) en Borkum (D) als voorbeelden. H2Watt richt zich op de volgende activiteiten: - Ontwikkeling van een waterstof laboratorium en testinfrastructuur - Gebruik van de laboratorium en testinfrastructuur van de door de partners gewenste systeemontwikkelingen, maar ook als demonstratieplatform voor componenten en systemen voor overige bedrijven en instellingen (staat open voor MKB's) - (Verdere) Ontwikkeling van marktgerichte milieutechnologieën, hoogtechnologische systemen, componenten en materialen (bv. gebruik van micro- en Nano materialen en innovatieve metaal- en oppervlaktelegeringen) - Procesontwikkeling en modellering van een waterstof-waardeketen (incl. Life-Cycle-Assessment) - Ontwikkeling van technologieconcepten

Achievements (DE):

Ziel des Projekts war, die Wirtschaft beiderseits der Grenze für die neuen Anforderungen und Potenziale, die sich durch die Einführung von Wasserstoff als Energieträger ergeben, vorzubereiten. Und das ist uns gelungen! Für Ameland wurde ein Energiekonzept inkl. Energiemanagementsystem auf Basis von Wasserstoff entwickelt, eine Testinstallation zur dezentralen Energieversorgung mit einer Brennstoffzelle geschaffen und verschiedene Nutzungskonzepte für Wasserstoff ausgearbeitet. Auf Borkum wurde die Energiezentrale konzeptioniert, in der verschiedene Komponenten für die Energieerzeugung und -speicherung zusammengeführt werden. Ein Bestandteil ist ein Doppeldruck-Wasserstoff-Tanksystem. Darüber hinaus wurden auch hier verschiedene Wasserstoffnutzungsszenarien entwickelt (z.B. Borkumer Inselbahn) Für die Schifffahrt wurde ein Green Water Taxi realisiert, das wasserstoffbasierte Kraftstoffe (in dem Fall Methanol) nutzt. Darüber hinaus wurde eine Brennstoffzelle als Testinfrastruktur für klein- und mittelständische Unternehmen angeschafft, die im Maritimen Technikum der Hochschule Emden/ Leer platziert wurde. Zusätzlich sind Machbarkeitsstudien für ein Fahrgast- und ein Frachtschiff im Wattenmeer erarbeitet worden, die einen Neubau und eine Umrüstung vorbereiten. Nicht zuletzt haben wir im Rahmen zahlreicher Veranstaltungen und Gespräche ein grenzübergreifendes Kompetenznetzwerk im Hinblick auf Wasserstoff und damit verbundene Innovationen im Kontext Hightech Systems and Materials aufgebaut mit dem wir gerne auch unsere zukünftige Arbeit gestalten!

Achievements (EN):

For Ameland an energy concept including energy management system based on hydrogen was developed, a test installation for decentralised energy supply with a fuel cell was created and various usage concepts for hydrogen were developed. On Borkum, the energy center was conceived, in which various components for energy generation and storage are combined. One component is a double pressure hydrogen tank system. In addition, various hydrogen use scenarios have also been developed here (e.g. Borkumer Inselbahn) For shipping, a Green Water Taxi was realised that uses hydrogen-based fuels (in the case of methanol). In addition, a fuel cell was purchased as a test infrastructure for small and medium-sized enterprises, which was placed in the Maritime Technical Centre of Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences. In addition, feasibility studies have been developed for a passenger and a cargo ship in the Wadden Sea, which are preparing a new building and retrofitting. Last but not least, we have built up a cross-border competence network with regard to hydrogen and related innovations in the context of high-tech systems and materials in the context of high-tech systems and materials during numerous events and discussions with which we are happy to shape our future work!
