Central Baltic Student Enterprises without Borders (CBEwB) focuses on improving entrepreneurship education in Estonia, Finland (incl. Åland), Latvia and Sweden. Today no entrepreneurship learning is efficient without an international perspective. Only theoretical learning cannot form positive attitudes towards entrepreneurship. In CBEwB students take initiative in creating international student companies with students from other CB countries. Enterprises without borders (EwB) involve students from at least 2 CB countries. Students meet, develop ideas, create and manage their companies and sell products together. Meanwhile they communicate via internet. Project demonstrates values of international business and challenges of cultural differences. Students sell locally and internationally learning teamwork wider than in usual SC programme. At least 50 international student companies are created in 3 years. Project starts with an interactive student seminar where students get acquainted, find business ideas and create first EwB-s. The second time students meet and develop their ideas in another country. EwBs are created by students who did not succeed the first time or new students. Others practice teamwork in creative exercises. Students visit SC trade fairs in partnering countries and sell togehter. Each project partner hosts students from other countries. In spring business reports are written, SC-s are closed, results are presented at a final conference. Method is analysed, improved for 2 following years. Each year a training is organised for teachers and business mentors and learning materials are developed. The project ends with a closing summit where conclusions are made and feedback is analysed. Partners give their know-how and organise events. Output: Better teachers, business volunteers, young business people with CB network and competence in international business. Steering group is created from managing persons from each country.

Achievements (EN):

CBEwB Central Baltic Student Enterprises without Borders: For contributing to more entrepreneurial central Baltic youth, the Junior Achievement (JA) organisations from Estonia, Latvia, Sweden and Finland joined forces to create joint student companies (business simulations) across borders. The project activities took place during 3 school years, totaling 78 joint student companies with 480 participants from 55 schools. Learning materials were developed for entrepreneurship education in all four countries and teachers were trained for moderating and consulting student companies at schools. During three years a well functioning model of forming and managing international business simulations was developed. At the end of the project a Teachers Guide was published online for making the process of student joint companies sustainable. This guide was published first in English and then translated to all four languages. It was made available for all teachers in participating countries but also shared with all countries in the network of Junior Achievement Europe, the organization of 42 countries. All JA organisations became experts in this field which is a valuable resource of knowledge for this region but also for the whole Europe. Three kick-off conferences were organised, followed by three innovation camps. Every year CBEwB students participated together in four student company trade fairs in all countries. Teachers got teacher training combined with kick-off conferences, innovation camps and trade fairs in Latvia and Sweden. Final student conference and teachers conference were organised each spring.

Expected Results (EN): R1.2. Number of established joint student companies

Expected Outputs (EN):

We plan to have at least 50 joint SCs during the three years.Every autumn (3) starts with a kick-off conference with 100 students. There the first joint SCs are started and ideas created. The number of started joint SCs can be different every year. Innovation camps with 100 students per year. Students who did not get an idea or did not find a partner get a second chance. NB! It is normal that not every participant can start a joint SC. If an idea does not find followers it may end with nothing and it is a normal process in SC program. Here also new students are involved if fresh blood is needed. The number can be different for every year but the result of these two steps in 3 years must be more than 50 SCs in total. At least 80 teachers and 50 mentors participate in the project. They support students’ learning process. They are also trained locally.At least 60 teachers- mentors participate in international training sessions. The number is smaller than the number of teachers as a part of teachers work locally (language problem, etc.)Final student conference is organised every year with at least best students (50 participants) . Not all participate as in spring some students have exams and other obligations. The final summit is organised for teachers, mentors, other educators where first results will be disseminated. The conference participation is planned about 100 people. This conference is for sustainability of the program and for motivating schools and educators to go on with it.Each partner improves their learning materials (Sweden and Finland together for Åland) and a joint guide for teaching joint SC program will be developed for the end of the project. Learning materials keep the quality of student learning on high level and the methodology can be disseminated all over Europe.Each SC participating must get a mentor. At least 300 students participate in three years.
