The idea is that with collaboration and joint activities "Making my future" project designs and pilots practices and tools for ensuring a better future for young people living in either disadvantaged, marginalized or remote communities and are at risk for social and educational exclusion. The time of youth, between the ages of 16 to 25, is a period when the future is shaping up by the choices the young make in further education and starting working life. The impact of peers and home as well as the community is important. "Making my future" joins up 35 young and 10 professionals from Estonia, Latvia and Finland to collaborate together to build up the future in their communities. In the project the potentials and proactiveness of young people living in “risky” communities or environments is enhanced by inviting them to shape their own future together and learn new skills and promote their courage and self-esteem. The approach of collaborative action learning is used - that is working together with young people using socio-cultural and future guidance methods – to enhance their potentials and also to engage them in proactive projects to have an impact to their communities via small scale projects. During the project the young people will create small changes – not only for themselves but also in their communities by collaboration with NGOs and local communities. The project consists of three intensive weeks in Estonia, Latvia and Finland during 2019 - 2020 with pre- and post-activities done by young people in their own communities. The process starts with using photo voice method as a community study method and continues with co-creation and implementation of small scale projects in the local communities and finishes with interactive virtual platform with process, results and methods which is open to use by all partners and general public, especially by NGOs and educational institutes working with young people and communities.

Achievements (EN):

MAMYFU activated young people to strengthen their capacity for a better future: MAMYFU activated young people living in disadvantaged communities and promoted their individual creative skills to strengthen their capacity for a better future for themselves and their communities. Several young participants from marginalized or risky life situations were able to enhance their self-esteem, future orientation, and skills via project activities. The project organised three intensive one-week courses where different methods were used to empower young people and improve their entrepreneurial skills. In Finland: Making my future - photovoice; in Latvia Future Post-corona - drama and improvisation; in Estonia: My Future, my planet - educational gamification were used to support young people’s skills development in a proactive way. Intensive courses brought together young participants and project staff to work together in a collaborative way, to learn with each other, from each other and about each other. In between the intensive courses, creative online workshops were organized to orientate to the intensive weeks´ themes and to keep up participants engagement. The courses were evaluated in feedback forms, discussions and via deeper group interviews. Project participants were engaged in small local projects. Through that, youth became more visible, gained local recognition and empowerment. In Finland the participants produced and organized a photo exhibition, in Latvia a public culture event at the local town square, and in Estonia they created educational learning games. Creative art- and action-based activities and methods that were used and tested in this project have been found effective and engaging for project´s target group and objectives. All methods are cost-effective and grassroot-oriented and can be renewed and repeated later on. Expected Outputs (EN):

The project's main results are at the individual level skills promotion and activation of young people, at the community level small practical projects designed and implemented by young people themselves for the community and at the national/crossborder level the result is to have a virtual platform with tested methods of how to make this all happen, which works and why. The platform serves an open learning arena for all to have insights and ideas for similar projects.
