Description (EN):

The infrastructure and conditions for the border checking at the Švendubrė-Privalka state border river crossing point (Lithuania-Belarus) are poor and insufficient; the state border protection during the out-of-season period and at night is not ensured. This negatively affects the travelling persons flow and the Lithuanian-Belarusian cross-border cooperation. The project aims at improving (creating) the infrastructure of the Švendubrė Seasonal River border crossing point (BCP) and ensuring the relevant inland waters border security by construction and installation of the border checks infrastructure and the berth for border guards and other vessels in the vicinity of Bugieda.

Achievements (EN):

The project resulted in the possibility to cross the Lithuanian-Belarusian border by the river Nemunas. The Svendubre seasonal border crossing point and the Bugieda berth for border guard vessels were constructed and specialised equipment installed. The possibilities to cross the Lithuanian-Belarusian border by sailing in passenger ships or kayaks were created thus improving the conditions for water tourism across the borders. Construction of the Bugieda berth for the border guard vessels has improved the protection of the Lithuanian-Belarusian border.

Expected Results (EN):

The project will result in construction of border checking infrastructure of Švendubrė BCP and Bugieda berth. This will increase the accessibility between Lithuania and Belarus and will enable nationals of any country to travel by the river Nemunas by passenger inland water transport across the borders. The border crossing and customs procedures will become shorter and more convenient. Construction of the Bugieda berth for the border guard vessels will improve the security and protection of the state border.
