Description (EN):

The grant was used for arranging investments aimed at increasing flood protection of the local populations at 19 Hungarian and 36 Ukrainian settlements. This is fundamental in a region which has seen several floods causing widespread damage in the last sixty years. Joint Hungarian-Ukrainian hydrological structures provide regular water recharge, an increase in the quantity of habitats, and a better water supply for the existing ones. They serve as foundations for joint environmental projects. Developments connected to floods and inland waters help reduce heavy annual expenditure on protection and reconditioning. The final licensed building plan documentation (for the overflow reservoirs and connected water management works) is available.
