Description (EN):

The overall project objective is to facilitate tourism development activities between the municipalities of Makedonska Kamenica and Belitsa, within the wider region. Specific objectives are: - improvement of road infrastructure to tourist locations in Makedonska Kamenica; - reconstruction of existing museum building as well as construction of tourist facilities in Belitsa Municipality; - exchange know-how and experience on cross border cooperation and management of EU cooperation programmes with counterparts from Bulgaria; - promotion of joint tourist resources from both municipalities.

Achievements (EN):

• Increased awareness of the region based on preservation of natural resources; Infrastructure works to provide acces to tourist location; Infrastructure works to provide the necessary facilities for tourist purposes • Construction of 1,3km access local road to tourist location "Elenec" in settlement Cera; • Construction of walking trails 100m x 1,5m; • Installation of urban equipment at tourist location; • Refurbishment of accommodation capacity; • Power installation and water supply; • Site rehabilitation after infrastructure works; • Initial meeting in Municipality Belitsa; • Construction of tourist infrastructure in the Municipality of Belitsa with two sites - rehabilitation of a museum building in Belitsa and tourist infrastructure with five sub-sites; • Visit of Municipality Belitsa representatives to Makedonska Kamenica; • Informational and tourist promotional activities; • Visit of Municipality Makedonska Kamenica representatives to Belitsa for promotion of the project results; The project has been successfully accomplished in May 2014.
