Description (EN):

The core objective of this project is to increase competitiveness of the border area between Poland and Belarus based on constructed road infrastructure. The project meets the description in Priority 1 of Cross-border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013: “Increasing competitiveness of the border area”, in Measure 1.3, i.e. “Improving access to the region”, which aims at “include improvements in the quality and accessibility of the social and economic infrastructure, with a focus on transport (…)”. The target group of the project are the inhabitants of Poviat of Mońki, i.e. 42 212 persons, and 53 000 inhabitants of Hrodna raion who will use new road infrastructure. It concerns both the users of the motor vehicles as well as the persons using the means of public transport as well as the local means of transportation. The road infrastructure that will appear as a result of the implementation of the project will directly be for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of the local government units. The advantages and benefits for the target group that will appear as a result of the project implementation will be as follows: improvement in safety of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, improvement of accessibility to services and social resources, boost the profits due to the improvement of tourist and economic activities. In Poviat of Mońki Road No 1838B county border /Strękowa Góra/Laskowiec-Gugny -Osowiec (km 0+000 – km 33+000) is to be renovated; the road goes through the Biebrza National Park. In Hrodna raion the Road No H-6054 Hrodna-Racičy-Sapockin (km 9+400– km 20+400) is to be renovated, the road runs near the Augustów Canal. The final beneficiaries as a result from the implementation of the project are the inhabitants of the whole Podlaskie Voivodeship – i.e. 1 188 329 persons, Mazovia Voivodeship – i.e. 5 242 911 persons, the area of Hrodna oblast - i.e. 1 102 756 persons. The transport route will run through the area of those regions and the route is going to be promoted amongst the local communities with the help of folders designed within the frame of the project. But we may say that the final beneficiaries are also all the other users of unique local nature resources which can be found on the territory of Podlasie and Hrodna regions. Improvement of the accessibility of the regions and popularization of their unique and outstanding tourist attractiveness will help to activate the tourism movement on the area of implementation of the project and the final beneficiaries will be able to make a profit on safe and proper road infrastructure of high quality.
