Description (EN):

Dissemination and implementation of a methodology named "European Energy Award“ EEA that rewards municipal integrated energy planning & activities with the aim to reach and go beyond the "20-20-20" EU energy objectives in Med regions. Main activities: -transfer and adaptation: EEA localisation and staff preparation -implementation: assistance to municipalities in the EEA application and in the signature of the EU "Covenant of Mayors" -feedback: definition of policy recommendations.

Achievements (EN):

State of the art of project implementation since the project start Medeea started on 1st June 2010 with the KoM in Genoa (July 2010). 8 ISC meetings, several technical and communication workshops, 3 -eea® training sessions- and 2 interregional meeting for municipalities were organized in Genoa (Nov. 2010), Murcia (Apr.2011), Heraklion (Nov.2011), Maribor (Feb.2012), Jaen (Apr. 2012), Faro (Sept. 2012), Malta (Nov 2012) and Cosenza (Feb 2013). Partners worked hard for the implementation of energy efficiency in Municipalities and for the adaptation of the eea® tool to MED area and achieved important results: 21 eea® advisors trained, 73 Municipalities involved and a mentor-mentee system implemented, 14 Municipalities awarded the eea (30 more to be), over 30 committed to the CoM and with their SEAPs ongoing. Communication tools and a web-site (www.interregmedeea.eu) have been created and the project is disseminated through media and events at local and European level. Capitalisation of experiences is ongoing and partners are producing final outputs. Latest project activities and outputs 3 ISC meetings (Faro, Malta, Cosenza) 6th payment claim and 1 budget change submitted to JTS Updating of the website and implementation of the communication strategy Dissemination of newsletter n.4 and n.5 Organization of 4 local workshops, participation to 10 fairs/dissemination events Organization of 1 technical workshops in Cosenza Participation to the eea Forum in Bruxelles (Nov 2012) and to the workshop dedicated to the implementation of the eea in warm countries. Implementation of the mentor mentee system with 2 exchanges of experience (visits organized in Portugal and Malta) Planning of 7 national final events (April - May) and 1 Medeea interregional final event in Cyprus (May 2013) Finalization of the eea process (14 Municipalities awarded) and the SEAPs 1 best practices catalogue (EN available online) Drafting of energy database, policy recommendations and Joint guidelines for municipalities for the application of the eea and the CoM Next key steps for the project Final ISC meeting (Cyprus May 2013) Preparation of final payment claim/closure of the project activities Auditing and awarding of Municipalities (47 expected in total) Finalization of CoM adhesions/SEAPs (over 30 expected) Finalization of mentor/mentee system (Cyprus) 7 final National events 1 final interregional conference (Cyprus) Participation to -Sustainablegeneva fair (April 2013) Communication and dissemination activities Meetings with EU Officials Delivery of final outputs
