Description (EN):

The project’s central aim is to promote tourism in close connection to environmental protection and to provide solutions for cross-border labour market development. Objectives: 1. The contribution to the economical, social and cultural sustainable development of the Mehedinti-Vidin CBC area by means of joint actions focused on the touristic infrastructure, respectively the common design of key tourism products and services based on the natural and cultural heritage. 2. Raising the relevant comunities awareness concerning the Mehedinti-Vidin area’s cultural and natural heritage riches aiming at present appreciation and future preservation. 3. The establishment of a solid and lasting partnership between Mehedinti county and Vidin region as an instrument of sustainable Romanian-Bulgarian crossborder cooperation aiming at overcoming the physical and socio-cultural barriers and at a better attainment of the opportunities intrinsically generated. The total budget of the operation is 422.192,98 €. The project’s first foreseen result is a tourism marketing study that will underpin the performance of all the project’s activities. It will be the starting point for the achievement of a travel guide and a travel map, 6 promotional films,1 website, the participation at 6 national tourism fairs both in Bulgaria and Romania and for the project’s overall advertising activities. The envisaged awareness actions, jointly designed and implemented, will focus on issues like heritage conservation and its preservation for future generations: 16 information seminars, 6 handicraft workshops, 1 cultural festival (further referred to as “Creation Festival”) and 1 RO-BG conference. The project’s results contribute to the achieving of the program’s output and result indicators: 1 Touristic Marketing Study, 4000 Travel guides, 4000 Tourtistic maps,6 souvenirs designs, 6 films, 6 touristic routes, 1 website, 6 participations at national tourism fairs, 6 information seminars,6 handicraft workshops, 4000 Craftsmen Books,1 Creation Festival, 1 Conference.

Achievements (EN):

The project is finalized. The main achievements of the project are: - 10 team meetings held; - 1 Touristic Marketing Study developed; - 1 project website: http://mehedinti-vidin.ro/en/; - 1 travel guide Mehedinti – Vidin (available on the project website); - 4000 Travel guides printed; - 4000 Touristic maps printed; - 6 films produced, (the movies are broadcasted on the project website: http://mehedinti-vidin.ro/en/media/video/); - 6 touristic routes created; - 16 information seminars held; - 6 handicraft workshops held; - 1 Creation festival field; - the project was presented at 6 tourism fairs.

Expected Results (EN): R2.1 - Number of tourist overnights in the CBC region

Expected Outputs (EN):

The promotion of touristic attractions and the foreseen awareness activities will determine an increment of the interest to visit the propsed Mehedinti-Vidin area tourist destinations and therefore, will contribute to the augmentation of the number of tourist overnights in the CBC region. AND Through its activities, the project aims to increase overnight stays in Mehedinti-Vidin Area with 3500 overnights.
