Description (EN):

The overall project objective is to increase the use of the natural and cultural resources for tourism purposes in Ełk and Kaunas cities. The main project’ activities involve adjustment of the Ełk lake shore for active and passive recreation and development of the Kaunas castle area for cultural purposes, where an amphitheater will be build. The planned investments allow to explore these attractive places in a controlled manner following strict requirements for the nature and culture heritage. Beneficiaries will implement joint informational campaign with the aim to increase awareness on the tourist attractiveness of both regions as potential sites for recreation and leisure. The project will promote the region as a one tourist destination: common tourist offers and common tourist guide for the cities, short joint spots promoting the cross-border area of Ełk and Kaunas are foreseen. These materials will highlight the natural and cultural heritage of the participating cities. In addition to the investment and promotional activities, representatives from Ełk and Kaunas, engaged in promoting and development of the joint tourism offers, will take part in the staff exchange, including bike rides and cultural events. The target group of the project – residents of both cities and regions, tourists visiting border area as well as operators in tourism industry.

Ogólnym celem projektu jest zwiększenie wykorzystania zasobów naturalnych i kulturowych do celów turystycznych w miastach Ełk i Kowno. Główne działania projektu obejmują dostosowanie brzegu jeziora Ełckiego do aktywnego i pasywnego wypoczynku oraz zagospodarowanie terenu zamku w Kownie na cele kulturalne, gdzie powstanie amfiteatr. Planowane inwestycje pozwolą na kontrolowane zwiedzanie tych atrakcyjnych miejsc z zachowaniem ścisłych wymogów dziedzictwa przyrodniczego i kulturowego. Beneficjenci zrealizują wspólną kampanię informacyjną mającą na celu zwiększenie świadomości na temat atrakcyjności turystycznej obu regionów jako potencjalnych miejsc rekreacji i wypoczynku. Projekt będzie promował region jako jeden kierunek turystyczny: przewidziane są wspólne oferty turystyczne i wspólny przewodnik turystyczny dla miast, krótkie wspólne spoty promujące obszar transgraniczny Ełku i Kowna. Materiały te będą podkreślać dziedzictwo przyrodnicze i kulturowe miast uczestniczących w projekcie. Oprócz działań inwestycyjnych i promocyjnych przedstawiciele z Ełku i Kowna, zaangażowani w promocję i rozwój wspólnych ofert turystycznych, wezmą udział w wymianie pracowników, w tym w rajdach rowerowych i imprezach kulturalnych. Grupa docelowa projektu - mieszkańcy obu miast i regionów, turyści odwiedzający obszar przygraniczny oraz podmioty działające w branży turystycznej.

Bendras projekto tikslas yra padidinti gamtos ir kultūros išteklių naudojimą turizmo reikmėms Elko ir Kauno miestuose. Pagrindinio projekto veikla apima Elko ežero pakrantės pritaikymą aktyviam ir pasyviam poilsiui ir Kauno pilies teritorijos kultūrinė plėtrą statant amfiteatrą. Numatomos investicijos leidžia atnaujinti ir pritaikyti šias patrauklias vietas, laikantis griežtų reikalavimų keliamų gamtos ir kultūros paveldo objektams. Paramos gavėjai įgyvendins bendrą informacinę kampaniją, siekdami padidinti informuotumą apie abiejų regionų, kaip potencialių poilsio ir laisvalaikio praleidimo vietų, patrauklumą turistams. Projektas skatins regioną kaip vieną turistinę vietą: numatomi bendri turistų pasiūlymai ir bendras turizmo vadovas miestams, numatytos bendros vietos, reklamuojančios pasienio Elko ir Kauno teritoriją. Šia medžiaga bus siekiama išryškinti dalyvaujančių miestų gamtos ir kultūros paveldą. Be investicijų ir viešinimo veiklos, įskaitant dviračių turismo skatinimą ir kultūrinius renginius, personalo mainų dar numatytas atstovų iš Elko ir Kauno, užsiimančių bendrų turizmo pasiūlymų populiarinimu ir plėtojimu bendradarbiavimas. Tikslinė projekto grupė - tiek miestų, tiek regionų gyventojai, turistai, besilankantys pasienio zonoje, taip pat turizmo pramonės atstovai.

Achievements (EN):

The main activities in the project were: development of place on the shore of the lake Elk for active and passive recreation and development of the Kaunas castle area. Activities were implemented to promote the region as a single tourist destination: common tourist offers and common tourist guide for the cities were prepared, short joint spots promoting the cross-border area established.
