Description (EN):

Project “E-bike Net” addresses the issue of sustainable individual transport mobility. The current structure of the transport infrastructure in the cross-border area is very centralized, connecting smaller towns with the center, thus neglecting the connections between the smaller towns themselves, especially the towns along the Danube and between the 2 countries. Furthermore, public transport could never have the flexibility to provide in the district towns the means of transport for the wanted destination at any moment and without changing different vehicles. We aim to create and promote a network of electrical bicycles, which people can use to move freely in the whole cross-border area of Bulgaria and Romania using the current road network or some dirt roads and to be able to charge the bicycles in a range of up to 70 kilometers throughout the cbc area. The budget for our operation is 768 392,92 euro. Project activities will be: study for e-bike network; preparation and creation of the network though purchase and placement of e-bikes and charging stations in the whole cbc area; training the operators for e-bike maintenance and small repairs; promotional campaign; information and publicity campaign, organization of promotional events; participation at tourism fairs; project management. The main result of the project will be a created and well-promoted, recognizable network of e-bicycles in 32 towns in the cbc area.

Achievements (EN):

The project was finalised. The e-bike network was set up and consists of 240 e-bikes stationed in 32 towns in eligible area and 70 charging stations placed in 68 towns in the eligible area. The e-bike network was broadly promoted via cross-border tours, including dedicated tours for elderly. The network was also promoted to tour operators and journalists within dedicated promotional tours, as well as international tourism fairs.(Pictures from the events and more details about where the electrical bikes can be found on the project website: http://danube-ebike.net/. In the susteinability period, the beneficiaries of the project are working on to ensure full functionality and accesibility of the network.

Improved connectivity of the cross-border transport system through the establishment of a new transport scheme for sustainable individual mobility. Planned and developed e-bike network Promoted and effectively used e-bike network 32 towns with e-bike stations; 70 e-bike charging station points covering the whole cbc area; Min 95 000 inhabitants benefiting from the e-bike Net, representing 2% of the 4,77mil population of cbc area 480 participants in e-biking events within the project; 2350 e-bike free rentals within the project; 2 developed studies for connectivity of e-bike Net to TEN-T infrastructure and advised e-bike routes;
