The number of research institutes in the field of mechanobiology in regenerative medicine is low in all participating regions, although the respective institutions work at the highest level. Only a cross-border merger of complementary research facilities, in which both the R&D infrastructure and its highly qualified employees are optimally used, will enable the solution of complex problems in regenerative medicine (heart, blood vessels, nerves, cartilage, bone). Therefore, the overarching objective of this project is the creation of the MechanoBiology Centre of Excellence in the hopes of exploiting existing synergies to increase performance, visibility and efficiency, and to significantly improve research activities and success through cross-border academic collaboration. Young scientists in the joint programmes contribute to the spread of knowledge far beyond the programme region. In this way, competence extends far beyond mere regional significance and impacts the European level and makes a significant contribution to the focus on interregional research in the programme area. The link to mechanobiology (effects of blood flow, cartilage and bone load, shock wave therapy) is new to this project and is a highly innovative field of regenerative medicine where therapeutic methods are developed to replace expensive long-term pharmacological therapies or multiple surgical procedures. The project pursues the strategy of supporting the body's self-healing powers to restore function-disrupted cells and tissues with relatively inexpensive methods, thus reducing the costs of therapy. The project contributes to the programme-specific goal of improving and expanding R&D capacity by fostering young emerging scientists in the scientific core arena of mechanobiology by developing and building joint academic programmes and promoting a cross-border exchange.

Die Anzahl der Forschungsinstitute im Bereich der MechanoBiologie in der Regenerativen Medizin ist in allen beteiligten Regionen gering obwohl die jeweiligen Einrichtungen auf höchstem Niveau arbeiten. Nur ein grenzüberschreitender Zusammenschluss einander ergänzender Forschungseinrichtungen, wo sowohl F&I Infrastruktur als auch deren hoch qualifizierte Mitarbeiter optimal eingesetzt werden, ermöglicht die Lösung komplexer Probleme in der Regenerativen Medizin (im Bereich Herz, Blutgefäße, Nerven, Knorpel, Knochen). Daher ist das übergeordnete Ziel dieses Projektes die Gründung des Kompetenzzentrums MechanoBiologie um bestehende Synergien zur Steigerung der Leistungsfähigkeit, der Sichtbarkeit und der Effizienz zu nutzen und eine klare Verbesserung der Forschungsaktivitäten und Erfolge durch grenzüberschreitende akademische Zusammenarbeit zu bewirken. Junge WissenschaftlerInnen in den gemeinsamen Programmen tragen zu einer Verbreitung des Wissens weit über die Programmregion hinaus bei. So entwickelt und verbreitet sich Kompetenz weit über die regionale Bedeutung hinaus auf eine europäische Ebene und leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Schwerpunktsetzung hinsichtlich einer interregionalen Forschungsentwicklung im Programmbereich. Neu an diesem Projektansatz ist der Bezug zur MechanoBiologie (Effekte von Blutfluß, Knorpel und Knochenbelastung, Stoßwellentherapie), einem sehr innovativen Gebiet der Regenerativen Medizin, wo therapeutische Methoden entwickelt werden um teure pharmakologische Langzeit-Therapien oder multiple chirurgische Eingriffe zu ersetzen. Das Projekt verfolgt die Strategie die Selbstheilungskräfte des Körpers zu unterstützen um funktionsgestörte Zellen und Gewebe mit relativ preiswerten Methoden wiederherzustellen und damit die Therapiekosten zu vermindern. Das Projekt leistet einen Beitrag zum programmspezifischen Ziel für eine Verbesserung und Erweiterung von F&I Kapazität durch Förderung junger aufstrebender WissenschaftlerInnen im wissenschaftlichen Kerngebiet der Mechanobiologie durch Ausbau und Aufbau gemeinsamer akademischer Programme und fördert einen regen grenzüberschreitenden Austausch.

Počet výzkumných ústavů v oblasti mechanobiologie v regenerativní medicíně v oblasti je nízký. Příslušná zařízení ale pracují ve všech zúčastněných regionech na nejvyšší úrovni, vzájemně se doplňují a mají vynikající výzkumnou a vývojovou infrastrukturu a vysoce kvalifikovaný personál. Pouze přeshraniční propojení výzkumných institucí umožňuje řešení složitých problémů v regenerativní medicíně (v oblasti srdce, cév, nervů, chrupavek a kostí) a dobré využití existující infrastruktury. Z těchto důvodů bylo jako všeobecný cíl projektu zvoleno zřízení kompetenčního centra pro mechanobiologii, které přinese zvýšení výkonnosti, efektivity a povědomí prostřednictvím mezinárodní akademické spolupráce. To povede k významnému zkvalitnění výzkumných aktivit. Mladí vědci ve společných výzkumných programech přispějí k šíření znalostí v regionu i daleko mimo něj. Nové poznatky a zkušenosti, které kompetenční centrum mechanobiologie získá, mají význam na úrovni celé Evropy. Kompetenční centrum přispěje k programovému cíli rozvoje výzkumu v regionu. Specifitou projektu je důraz na mechanobiologii (efekt průtoku krve, zatížení chrupavek a kostí, léčba rázovou vlnou), což je velmi inovativní pole regenerativní medicíny, kde jsou vyvíjeny léčebné postupy schopné nahradit drahé a dlouhodobé farmakologické léčby nebo opakované chirurgické zákroky. Projekt sleduje strategii podpory hojících mechanismů těla, jeho schopnosti obnovit dysfunkční buňky a tkáně. Mechanobiologie staví na poměrně levných metodách čímž se zlevňuje terapie. Projekt přispěje k cíli programu v oblasti zlepšení a rozšíření výzkumu a inovací prostřednictvím zapojení mladých vědců v klíčovém vědním oboru mechanobiologie, rozšířením a rozvojem vzdělávacích a tréninkových programů a podporou intenzivní přeshraniční výměny lidí i poznatků.

Expected Outputs (DE):

Das Ziel ist der Aufbau eines grenzübergreifenden Kompetenzzentrums, in dem die Rolle der Mechanobiologie im Bereich der Regenerativen Medizin charakterisiert wird und in weiterer Folge neue Methoden und Technologien aber auch klinische Therapien entwickelt werden. Durch die Gründung des Kompetenzzentrums kann die Nutzung von national und international finanzierter Infrastruktur optimiert werden. Die erfolgreiche Umsetzung der Arbeitspakete wird durch enge grenzübergreifende Kollaboration in Form von gemeinsamen Projekten, Projektarbeiten, Publikationen in Fachzeitschriften sowie einer Teilnahme an internationalen Konferenzen gemessen. Neu gewonnene Erkenntnisse werden das Bestehen des Kompetenzzentrums über die Projektlaufzeit hinweg sichern, da dadurch Folgeprojekte und weitere Kooperationen lanciert werden. Die gemeinsam durchgeführten Projekte führen zu einer Erhöhung der grenzübergreifenden Forschungsquote und tragen dadurch zu Outputindikator OP1 bei.

Expected Outputs (CS):

Cílem je vybudovat přeshraniční výzkumné centrum v němž se bude rozvíjet role mechanobiologie v regenerativní medicíně. Budou se též rozvíjet nové metody a technologie včetně klinických terapií. Založením centra se optimalizuje využití infrastruktur vybudovaných z národních a mezinárodních zdrojů. Úspěšná realizace pracovních balíčků realizovaných v těsné přeshraniční spolupráci se projeví v následných společných projektech, publikacích v odborných časopisech a prezentacích na mezinárodních konferencích. Získané nové znalosti zajistí, že kompetenční centrum bude pokračovat i po skončení projektu. Na jejich základě budou formulovány následné projekty a budou probíhat další spolupráce. Společně řízené projekty povedou ke zvýšení přeshraničního výzkumu a což je obsahem výstupního indikátoru OP 1.
