Description (EN):

Central Europe’s cultural heritage is rich and diverse, but under pressure due to lack of capacity (common policies, know-how, resources). In some parts situation is rapidly deteriorating. In the past, many castle buildings were upgraded, decorated with parks, which were reflections of the socio - cultural values of the time. Their purpose was to demonstrate the political and economic power of the owner and on the other hand owner wanted to spend quality time in aesthetic landscape. Nowadays many of those parks don’t exist anymore, especially in small towns. The main reason is lack of financial resources for the protection of cultural and historical buildings and their contents. Surrounding of the buildings, due to lack of knowledge from the past and financial resources, is therefore mostly arranged according to the needs of present days. We will strengthen capacities of public and private sector for use of cultural heritage and resources achieved through transnational cooperation, raise awareness amongst schools and citizens about our historical past and improve benefits for the citizens and the public administrations. Main outputs will be: Concept of TS, TS on evaluation of cultural heritage and potentials of historical parks, 8 local action plans, decision support tool with guidelines for self-evaluation for local/regional development, educational outdoor trail tool and transnational handbook on landscape accessible for all, 8 local revitalisation concepts and 7 revitalised historical gardens and one 3D pilot visualisation. Due to the big varieties of typologies and the fragmentation in managing historical gardens at CE level, it would not be possible to tackle all these challenges in a single area. The diversity of the partners’ experience provides a transnational added value supporting a wide diffusion of the project results in many other CE regions.

Achievements (EN):

Why HICAPS? Walking around the park, have you ever wondered why some of the parks and their buildings get to be so neglected? Why so beautiful places do not reveal their full potential? What is their true story behind the “curtain”? Well, we have! And not only that, we thought about how to make them as much accessible to all people who want to learn something about them and in them! We invite you to be one of those people and become a part of our HICAPS project! So come on and check us out! What we did? HICAPS project has built 8 different concepts on how to revitalize 8 different castle parks. By building different interactive contents and by developing tools, our aim was to enrich park spaces and turn them into a place for spending time in, socializing in nature, interaction, a places for educational workshops, game, ect. Simply put, the idea was to renovate the space for renovation of community! Also, we have developed a set of guidelines that will show how we achieved our mission and in a long term help someone else who wants to follow our example and do something similar in their own community.

Expected Results (EN): R 3.2 Status of capacities of the public and private sector for the sustainable use of cultural heritage and resources achieved through transnational cooperation.

Expected Outputs (EN):

HICAPS main results are to develop transnational strategy on evaluation of cultural heritage and potentials of historical parks focus on technical, organisational and financial aspects of cultural areas management and decision support tool for self-evaluation of the local processes on quality and effectiveness in process of evaluation and use of cultural heritage as resources for local/regional development. This is directly linked to result indicator of increasing capacities of the public and private sector for the sustainable use of cultural heritage and resources. The results of project includes also adoption of local action plans in partners regions based on developed strategy on cultural heritage and potentials of historical parks to foster sustainable economic growth and employment. We will empower both sectors and general public also trough workshops provided and transnational handbook on the most appropriate tools to address and promote cultural and natural heritage among people with disabilities. All these will be finally tested by project partners on pilot sites, where we planning to revitalise historical gardens.
