The Tokaj wine region may be considered an area unique and homogenous from the point of view of its landscape and cultural geography, characterized to a large extent by the special mining assets close to the national border, as well as vini- and vit iculture and a wide variety of tourist attractions. The fundamental idea behind the creation of a joint GIS framework by Pavel Josef Safárik University Košice, Slovakia and Eszterházy Károly Univerity Eger, Hungary was to support the harmonized prese ntation and organic development of the wine region based on the integration of basic territorial data and the joint handling of GIS by the two European member states. Databases with different structures and nomenclature hamper the processing of the GIS data of the wine region, its integration and the preparation of mutually advantageous regional development concepts as well as the transparency of developmental efforts. The aim of the project is to pool the professional experience of the two in stitutions and to facilitate joint learning processes based on specific modular frameworks in keeping with the character of the wine region. The proposed system is capable of integrating and unifying the GIS data bases present on both sides of the bo rder and supporting functional regional planning and development, marketing, sustainable landscape planning and management and last but not least it deepens the remote sensing skills and knowledge present at the two institutions. The thematic content of the trilingual GIS framework published on the website can be used as a validated source of information for wine producers, local goverment and administration, local people as well as the participants (both on the demand and supply side) of touris m. Furthermore it provides an easily accessible dissemination platform on which to publish the research results of the area.

Vinohradnícku oblasť Tokaj z krajinného a kultúrno-geografického hľadiska môže byť považovaná za oblasť s jedinečným a homogénnym potenciálom, vyznačujúca sa do značnej miery ťažobnými aktivitami v blízkosti štátnych hraníc, ako aj vinárstvom a vinohradníctvom a širokou škálou turistických atrakcií. Základnou myšlienkou vytvorenia spoločnej geoinformatickej databázy zo strany Univerzity Pavla Jozefa Šafárika v Košiciach a Eszterházy Károly Univerzity Eger bolo podporiť prezentáciu a spoločný rozvoj vinárskej oblasti založenej na integrácii základných územných dát a vytvorenie spoločnej GIS databázy dvoch členských štátov Európskej Únie. Databázy s rôznymi štruktúrami a názvoslovím komplikovali spracovanie GIS dát vo vinárskom regióne, jeho integráciu a prípravu vzájomne výhodných konceptov regionálneho rozvoja, ako aj transparentnosť vývojových snáh. Cieľom projektu je zhromaždiť odborné skúsenosti a poznatky oboch inštitúcií a uľahčenie spoločných vzdelávacích procesov pomocou prevádzky modulárneho geoinformatického systému vinohradníckej oblasti. Navrhovaný systém je schopný integrovať a vizualizovať štandardizované geopriestorové databázy na oboch stranách hranice a podporovať funkčné regionálne plánovanie, rozvoj, marketing, udržateľné územné plánovanie, riadenie a v neposlednom rade prehlbuje zručnosti z diaľkového prieskumu Zeme a súčasného stavu znalostí oboch inštitúcií. Trojjazyčný tematický obsah GIS databázy zverejnený na internetovej stránke môže byť použitý ako overený zdroj informácií pre výrobcov vína, štátnu správu a miestnu samosprávu, verejnosť, miestnych obyvateľov, ako aj pre účastníkov cestovného ruchu na strane dopytu ako aj ponuky. Okrem toho poskytuje ľahko dostupnú platformu na zverejnenie výsledkov výskumu v danom regióne.

A Tokaji borvidék táj,- és kultúrföldrajzi szempontból homogén és unikális adottságú térségnek tekinthető, amely alapvető mértékben determinálja a határmenti régió különleges termékeket előállító bányászatát, szőlő és borkultúráját, valamint a gazdagon rendelkezésre álló turisztikai attrakciót. A kassai Pavel Josef Safárik Egyetem és az egri Eszterházy Károly Egyetem együttműködésében megvalósuló térinformatikai keretrendszer tervezésének alapvető gondolata az egységes borvidék megjelenésének és szerves fejlődésének támogatása volt, amelynek feltétele a két európai tagállam területi alapadatainak integrációja és együttes térinformatikai kezelése. Az eltérő struktúrájú és nevezéktanú adatbázisok megnehezítik a borvidék térinformatikai feldolgozását, a tudományos adatok integrációját, a közös érdekeken alapuló régiófejlesztési koncepciók elkészítését, és a kapcsolódó fejlesztési feladatok transzparensé tételét. A projekt célja a két intézmény szakmai tapasztalatainak megosztása és a közös tanulás gyakorlati lehetőségének megteremtése egy borvidéki moduláris térinformatikai keretrendszer működtetésének segítségével. A tervezett rendszer képes integrálni és megjeleníteni a szlovák és a magyar oldalon rendelkezésre álló, egységesített térinformatikai adatbázisokat, támogatja a funkcionális területi tervezés, fejlesztés, marketing, valamint a fenntartható tájtervezés és gazdálkodás feladatainak megvalósulását, nem utolsó sorban lehetőséget teremt a két intézmény távérzékelési kompetenciáinak, és tudásának elmélyítésében is. A weben publikált háromnyelvű térinformatikai keretrendszer tematikus tartalma validált információforrásként használható fel a borvidéki vállalkozások, önkormányzatok és érdekeltjei, a helyi közigazgatás, a lakosság, valamint a turizmus keresleti, kínálati szereplői számára. Továbbá könnyen elérhető disszeminációs felületet nyújt a területi kutatási eredmények publikálásában is.

Databases with different structures and nomenclature make the processing of the GIS data of the wine region, the integration of scientific data, the preparation of mutually advantageous regional development concepts and the transparency of developmental efforts difficult. The aim of the project is to share the professional experience of the two institutions and to facilitate joint learning processes by the help of specific modular GIS frameworks of the wine region. The proposed system is able to integrate and represent unified GIS data of both sides and supports the realization of functional regional planning and development, marketing, sustainable landscape planning and management, in addition it provides opportunities to deepen the remote sensing skills and knowledge of two institutions. The thematic content of the trilingual GIS framework published on the website can be used as a validated source of information for wine producers, local governments and stakeholders, local administration, residents as well as for the participants of tourism both on demand and supply side. Furthermore, it provides an easily accessible dissemination platform for publication of research results. One of the most important result of the project is that it provided a new approach for strengthening the cohesion of the border region. The freely available data supporting planning and development could be considered as basis of the common development of the region.
