Description (EN):

The project is dealing with significant common challenges concerning specific aspects of local/regional environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources. Also, the project is proposing to overcome the border as a perceived “division”, and promoting greater cooperation and contact between regions and communities on both sides of the border. The project propose a series of investments in infrastructure and equipment for environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources. The overall objective of the project is the Contribution to energy efficiency, renewable energy use and reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The project scope is to: - Install SOLAR PANELS FOR DOMESTIC HOT WATER (DHW) ON THE ROOF OF THE HEALTH AND SPORT COMPLEX (SWIMMING POOL) Resita in order to decrease the consumption with 26.600 m3 of gas / year. As a conclusion, the most important benefit of the investment is the reduction of CO2 emission with 54.200 kg/year; - upgrade the infrastructure in sports hall in Pancevo in order to upgrade their energy efficiency and enhance their positive environmental impact; - Obtain a study concerning renewable energy innovative solution. The project main outputs which can be related with programme output indicator of priority axis 2 is: 1. Infrastructure, equipment built/ installed/ modernized in the field of cross border services for environmental protection. 2. Studies in the field of environmental protection and emergency management. (technical and scientific studies, researches in the relevant fields). 3. Participants to project initiatives and events for information and awareness rising. The project with implementation of modern material, scope to make a good start, and more actions to follow in order to energy modernize public buildings. It will bring a new business interest for the area, giving motivation to companies related with energy efficiency material and in general in energy efficiency to work and why not invest in the area. In order to succeed the maximum dissemination of the project the 2 partners would: • Create a Study concerning the impact of innovative renewable energy solutions, • Research for Study concerning the impact of innovative renewable energy solutions, • Create events in order to maximize the dissemination effect of the project.

Achievements (EN):

This project was implemented within the program priority – Environmental protection and risk management, with the aim of Environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources. In the past 27 months of the project implementation, the Sports hall has been reconstructed to a energy-efficient building. Insulation of the walls with stone wool and ventilating facade, insulation of the roof of the building, joinery was replaced, a new air-conditioning chamber was installed, which allows the supply of outside fresh air, removal of polluted air, additional heating and cooling of the room and two heat pumps. The sports hall has so far been extremely energy-inefficient, with large budgetary funds being spent only on heating. The facility did not have the possibility of cooling in the summer, so this project also included cooling and heating. Results achieved: 2 workshops for experience exchanges and presentation of best practices in local policies. 1 impact study concerning renewable energy innovative solutions to be applied at cross border level. Installation of solar panels on the rooftop of the Swimming Olympic Basin in Resita. Installation of a bicycle rental system in Resita. Works on the dismantling/instalment the joinery, installation of insulation material and heating and cooling instalment in the Regional Sports Hall in Pancevo. Expected Outputs (EN):

1. Potential for cross-border interoperability for environmental protection and emergency interventions, based on shared procedures and technologies . Awareness on the potential of environmental resources and the benefits of protectio. The following actions are bringing contribution to the result indicator: - The communication activities and implementation of the project will contribute significantly to the promotion of the project results. This, in combination with educational seminars, is expected to highlight the significance of such interventions in the society with a view to their adoption by it. It is very important to inform the society and support similar actions since they have long term perspective focus to achieve energy saving, protection of environment and contribution to climate change mitigation actions through the cooperation in region. Although project’s actions are limited, they are going to create the right perspective, with the participation and encouragement of society to continue, finance similar actions with beneficial results for the environment and the society. - Potential for cross-border interoperability for environmental protection and emergency interventions, based on shared procedures and technologies . - Awareness on the potential of environmental resources and the benefits of protection. - Resident population informed on quality and quantity of environmental resources in the eligible area, and on the benefits of protection actions.
