Description (EN):

1. This project will address the urgent need to support the social, cultural & labour market integration of young recent migrants aged 18-30. A cross-border approach is needed because young migrants in the partner regions face common barriers to inclusion including limited language skills & knowledge of local culture & economy, low skills/qualifications, high unemployment & a lack of social capital & support. The cross border approach will also bring together the distinct specialisms of the partners, enabling them to develop a more comprehensive response to the target groups’ needs. 2. The project is highly innovative in its development of a holistic programme which will build on the expertise/experience of R&D Centre Linkoping in Sweden supporting labour market integration & that of Creative Ideas Latvia in supporting social/cultural integration. The programme will consist of a toolkit of options, including informal education to support engagement, language/cultural awareness training, vocational training, work placements, job brokerage & community based & workplace mentoring, & will be customised to individual needs. 3. The programme activities will include establishing a cross border network, initial mapping of the needs of young migrants in the 2 regions, existing integration programmes & gaps in provision, establishing regional support networks of municipalities, training providers, employers & communities with high concentrations of young migrants developing a joint training programme & toolkit, piloting the programme by training 50 young migrants recruited from the partner regions & evaluating, mainstreaming & disseminating the results. 4. The main project results will be: Sustainable cross border network; 1 Joint Young Migrants Training Programme; Piloting / Implementation of the programme with 50 young migrants; 120 people participating.

Expected Results (EN): R4.1. Communities with improvements

Expected Outputs (EN):

1. The main result achieved will be to reduce the exclusion of 2 young migrant communities participating in the training programme and to enhance their social and economic integration. 50 young migrants will be trained and at least 90% will enhance their skills/achieve a qualification and/or move into employment. Participants will be surveyed at the end of the course & at least 90% will confirm that the programme has enhanced their social/economic inclusion. 2. The project will also recruit & train 15 mentors, either community or workplace based who will offer guidance and support to young migrants on the training programme. In addition it will establish stakeholder support networks in each participating region involving representatives of municipalities, training providers, employers and communities with high concentrations of young migrants from where the young migrants will be recruited. This will mean that additional results will be that at least 120 people will participate in the project as a whole, and at least 3 further geographical communities will be improved through the project. Participating community stakeholders will be surveyed at the end of the project and at least 90% will confirm that the project has improved social/economic inclusion in their communities. 3. These project results will directly contribute to achievement of the project overall objective and the specific objective of the programme and its main results indicator. A key output of the project will be the development of the holistic training programme & this will provide the basis for mainstreaming, dissemination & sustainability supporting the social & labour market integration of many more young migrants in the future. Both participating young migrants & stakeholders will be surveyed with 90% confirming that the programme has made a positive contribution to social/economic inclusion at individual & community levels.
