Description (EN):

OIS–AIR establishes and develops the Open Innovation System of the Adriatic-Ionian Region: a Hub&Spoke network forging lasting transnational links and leveraging the raw materials of the 21st century, knowledge and innovation. The Hub, coordinated by AREA Science Park, connects the Innovation Centres-Spokes-disseminated across the Region: local assets and excellences-research infrastructures, incubators and accelerators, specialisations, human capital-are pooled together to create a critical mass, crucial to meet the tech&inno needs of SMEs and generate societal growth. OIS-AIR approaches the transnational cooperation on innovation from a multi-level perspective: strategic planning and policy commitment; skills development; design of tailored tools, methodologies & services; deployment of pilot industry-research collaboration schemes. OIS-AIR unlocks the innovation potential of the Region as a whole: it designs a Pilot Adriatic-Ionian S3 aimed at building initiatives on synergic specialisation sectors and KETs and it develops an Action Plan for the Pilot Adricatic-Ionian S3 implementation and monitoring. OIS-AIR is rooted to the ground and fed in a virtual space: OISAIR is a formal Hub&Spoke netwok of innovation support organisational and physical facilities open to research and companies; OISAIR Hub is a virtual environment for the coordination and operations of the OISAIR network, a web-based portal, an area for knowledge, innovation, technology, initiatives and opportunities exchange developed and fed by its users and beneficiaries. OISAIR network is the gateway to the best tech transfer & innovation support services in the Region: it opens the doors of the best innovation and research facilities to SMEs, start-ups & spin-offs. OISAIR walks one step before innovations uptake: it shares knowledge and anticipates technologies, incubates the best ideas and accelerates the valuable ones, develops and tests research valorisation schemes. OISAIR pushes research based innovation in SMEs: a tailored Proof of Concept scheme is designed and vouchers are delivered to the 10 most promising co-development projects (research-driven transnational innovation projects) embedded into the pilot Adriatic-Ionian S3. OISAIR is the single marketplace for technology and innovation: be competitive regionally and globally, stay tuned OIS-on-AIR!

Achievements (EN):

Started in 2018, with the main aim to strength the development of industrial and entrepreneurial activities in Adriatic-Ionian Region, the Project involved many relevant stakeholders from different sectors -from research institutions to SMEs and public administration. The project has established the OIS-AIR Network currently composed by 7 Innovation Centres and open to new adhesions. It is supported by the OIS-AIR INNOVAIR Platform, a virtual innovation marketplace aimed at improving the innovation capacity that offers free-of-charge innovation services to businesses and promotes the establishment of R2B collaborations between innovation players of the Adriatic-Ionian area. By means of a Network of transnational Innovation players, OISAIR achieved several key benefits for the whole Adriatic Ionian innovation ecosystem: Set up of unique OIS-AIR Network and the Innovair Platform: www.oisair.net, for the exchange knowledge, technologies and innovation opportunities. Definition of the first Pilot Macro Regional S3 for Adriatic Ionian Region- defining key macro-regional development trajectories in most promising sectors. Action plan for Macro Regional S3. Establishment of Local Innovation centres Organization of Open innovation workshops with different stakeholders Organization of a transnational Proof of Concept Call (POC Call). Provision of 10 innovation vouchers to support the best trans-regional R2B innovation projects. Delivery of over 150 free-of-charge innovation services to businesses.

Expected Results (EN): Level of capacity of key innovation actors to be effectively involved in transnational actions for the development of a regional Innovation system

Expected Outputs (EN):

By pursuing the main objective of establishing and developing the OIS-AIR, the activities envisaged by the project towards this achievement contribute to: improve economic competitiveness of the area thanks to transnational cooperation in innovation and strategies coordination at RIS3 level (AT1,2,3); increase macro-regional market opportunities by identifying transnational complementarities and synergies in those traditional and emerging sectors where the area may boast and build a competitive advantage (AT1,2,3); enhance competencies of innovation actors and stakeholders in the delivery of high-value added services to businesses & research infrastructures thanks to training activities, joint development & delivery of specialized services within a knowledge sharing interregional network (AT2,3); create stable collaboration links among economic and research systems at transnational level thanks to the establishment of a unique innovation platform sharing services, infrastructures and competencies (AT2,3); improve circulation of knowledge in the Region thanks to the network integrated activities (AT2,3,C); mobilise stakeholders in the field of research, innovation & business by proposing & delivering concrete collaboration through the OIS Platform & Hub as well as through each Innovation Centre and dedicated communication activities (AT2,3,C); promote investments in R&I of SMEs and the development of new products, processes & services in the macro-regional S3 traditional and emerging sectors thanks to the provision of specialized services (co-development projects, technology audits-AT3). OIS-AIR represents therefore an interactive environment involving transversally all innovation actors and stakeholders on different levels (policy and operational) by stimulating joint strategic and operational planning and implementation of transnational innovation strategies thus significantly contributing to the establishment and development of the regional innovation system.
