Maritime/coastal tourism is a growing trend among families, youth and middle-aged tourists. Visitors expectations towards service quality is very high. Keywords: clean facilities, variety of services, modern technologies, safety etc. Random and critical actions made by small harbors do not comply the goal to increase the number of services hence also visits. The aim of the project is to help harbors to change into an attractive and modern port. To plan a journey from the start to the end and meet the needs on satisfactory level at the same time is crucial. Weekend trips or longer journeys usually include visits to harbors nearby. To plan a trip in advance/spontaneously, it is crucial to find a reliable information. Availability of highly valued harmonized standards like Blue Flag and Blue Star Marina in a harbor, usually determines the decision on travelers (next) destination. Project connects harbors & other relevant actors across the CB to jointly enhance the level of services by using environmentally friendly solutions, certify a min. of 70% of participating harbors according to re-known standards, plan&implement common marketing activities, raise harbors safety etc thus critical focus is on investments. The need of improved facilities to meet the criterions set in selected standards differ in harbors substantially. The moto of the entire project is: “Opening the door to a destination”. Visitor-friendly harbor is opened not only for (boat)tourists but also for hikers, cyclists, families from the village nearby/beyond. Dockside pedestals should provide 2-or 3-phase electricity along with drinking & non-potable water. Laundry, modern mooring, ship logs, BerthMaster online etc will be a definite part of available services in harbors. Practical on-site visits to harbors in the region and to a modern, active, successful, family-friendly harbor in central Europe (BSM and/or BF certified) is to help operators to understand a concept of contemporary harbor.

Expected Outputs (EN):

As a result of the project there are 32 harbors in the Archipelago with increased number of services and improved service level whereas 30 participating harbors have a proven record of internationally certified quality standard. Infrastructure in all harbors will be developed to meet modern standards, accessible, safe and welcoming every visitor. Other expected results of the project can be characterized as follows: a) The number of tourist visits after the project implementation is in average increased by 80 % as a minimum. b) Low or renewable energy solutions (solar panels, combined electricity and water systems) are taken in use in 28-30 harbors . c) The number of BlueStarMarina certified harbors:12. d) The number of BlueFlag certified harbors: 18. e) One representative per harbor will be participating in practical study-visit to central Europe where the visits to different Blue Star Marina or Blue Flag certified harbors will be combined with 1-2 thematic and very practical trainings (subjects will be selected before each visit). f) Joint marketing – Existing network of BSM and BF is opened for certified harbors (30) but in reality the entire region (including all 32 harbors) will attract an interest and benefit from it. Several tools, taken in use in every region, will jointly form a network of local/regional/international tourism promotors along with other organisations active in boattourism.
