China – country of opportunities and steadily growing demand of wood products, especially with added value. Experts has found out that sector’s export from Finland to China in 2015 has grown around 50%, comparing with 2014. This shows green light to Estonian and Latvian companies, that wood product export to China can be real. Common characteristic of all three countries is competitive wood sector and also distance to China. It’s clear, that active sales are with raw materials in sector and meanwhile added value product demand is growing as well. Common challenge is to develop wood interior design industry product export to China by developing joint corporation network and activities. Under wood interior design industry are: wood building materials, furniture, wooden doors and windows, wooden houses – all wood products with added value. Knowledge transfer, market research, visiting and participating with booth in expo, contact matchmaking, trade mission are a first-class opportunities to develop export by LEF network to China. Partners from Latvia, Estonia and Finland have contacts both in China and industry companies and have experience in export organization, which will ensure quality. SMEs will have opportunity to be involved directly in main project activities in China. Joint Corporation in creating support network to China will give: practical and concrete results. Practical are trainings, market research - with long term impact. Concrete – 19 companies from all partner countries in 3 export activities in China will be developing real exports through contact matchmaking events, expo visits, expo joint- booth and trade mission. Main beneficiaries of project will be SMEs - wood interior design entrepreneurs. Original joint corporation develops cluster: business support organization, university, companies are cluster between partners and all partners are umbrella organizations in the sector in own country, giving huge experience and strong competence.

Expected Results (EN): R1.3. Number of cluster co-operations exporting to new markets

Expected Outputs (EN):

CB region wood interior design industry cluster unites 5 partners fulfilling cluster functions to develop wood interior design SMEs export to China. There is long term cooperation established with 3 partner organizations in China. LCCI – over 80 members from the sector, corporation with Latvian Forest Industry association and R&D of the sector. ECCI – over 150 members from the sector, their needs and interests ECCI is well aware of. SAMK – internationally active and research-oriented institution of higher education, holding responsibility for regional development by supporting the regional economy and industry in more strong export activities, including wood industry export. LWCC – cluster organization uniting wooden house builders, researchers and other organizations in Latvia, 30 members. EWA – network of Estonia’s strongest wooden houses producers and their supply chain partners with 51 members. Main results: 1. Signed at least 3 sales agreements; 1/per country. 2. Established LEF network of 5 partners for sustainable export development to China. 3. Expo visit and contact matchmaking in China. Participants: 19 companies. 4. Expo stand and matchmaking with stand booth in China. Participants: 19 companies. 5. Incoming trade mission from China. Participants: 7 China companies, 12 CB companies. 5. Trade mission with contact matchmaking in China. Participants: 19 companies. 6. Raised competence about exporting opportunities to China, by organizing training in 3 countries. 7. Web platform with all project materials from training, market research-handbook, translations etc. After the project, entrepreneur’s knowledge, project materials and developed interest will stay to wide list of companies in sector to start export to China. At least 19 enterprises will receive support by participating in 3 business trips to country; at least 60 by participating in project training on China markets. Uncountable use of online materials – training materials, videos, research-handbook etc.
