Aukštaitijos (LT) ir Latgalos (LV) pasienio regionai yra turtingi natūraliais vandens objektais, kurie nėra visiškai pritaikyti turizmo poreikiems, taip pat neįgaliesiems asmenims . Vandens objektai turi didelį potencialą tapti ekologinio turizmo galutiniu tikslu regione, tačiau pastebimas turizmo produktų trūkumas ir bendri ekologinio turizmo maršrutai. Siekiant skatinti ekologinio turizmo plėtrą, projektas padės gerinti vandens objektų infrastruktūrą ir jų prieigą neįgaliesiems, būs kuriami nauji ekologinio turizmo produktai, taip didinant lankytojų skaičių regione. Aplinkos apsaugos klausimai bus keliami visuomeninės veiklos metu, pavyzdžiui, nuotykių stovyklose, turizmo festivaliuose, praktiniuose seminaruose, kuriuose dalyvaus turizmo specialistai, vaikai, šeimos su vaikais, vietos gyventojai ir turistai. Projekto metu bus nustatyta ekoturizmo situacija ir jos plėtros galimybės pasienio teritorijoje Latvijoje ir Lietuvoje. Latvijos ir Lietuvos turizmo ekspertų dalyvavimu bus plėtojami 3 nauji bendri ekoturizmo maršrutai Latgalos ir Aukštaitijos, vienas iš jų - neįgaliesiems. Siekiant įvairinti poilsį prie vandens telkinių, bus įsigyta įvairių tipų įranga, taip pat atsižvelgiant į jo naudojimo galimybes asmenims su funkciniais sutrikimais. Bus supirkta įranga: įvairios valtys, paplūdimio neįgaliųjų vežimėliai, SUP - lentos, vandens dviračiai, katamaranai, gelbėjimosi liemenės, vandens kamuoliai, lauko treniruokliai, taip pat paukščių ir gyvūnų stebėjimo įranga (teleskopas, žiūronai). Sabalunkos kempingas Sartai ir Gražutės regioninis parkas taps pirmasis pilnai pritaikytas poilsiui žmonėms su negalia.

Aukštaitijas (LT) un Latgales (LV) pierobežas reģioni ir bagāti ar dabiskiem ūdens objektiem, kas nav pilnībā pielāgoti tūrisma vajadzībām, kā arī atpūtai pie dabas personām ar invaliditāti. Ūdens objektiem ir liels potenciāls kļūt par ekotūrisma galamērķi reģionā, tomēr trūkst kopīgi ekotūrisma maršruti. Ekotūrisma attīstības veicināšanai projekta ietvaros tiks uzlabota ūdens objektu infrastruktūra un to pieejamību personām ar invaliditāti, tiks radīti jauni ekotūrisma produkti, tādējādi palielinot apmeklētāju skaitu pierobežas reģionā. Projekta aktivitāšu ietvaros tiks aktualizēti vides aizsardzības jautājumi, tūrisma speciālistus, bērnus, ģimenes ar bērniem, vietējos iedzīvotājus un tūristus iesaistot piedzīvojumu nometnēs, tūrisma festivālos un praktiskajos semināros. Projekta laikā tiks apzināta ekotūrisma situācija un tās attīstības iespējas Latvijas un Lietuvas pierobežā. Piedaloties tūrisma ekspertiem no Latvijas un Lietuvas, tiks izstrādāti 3 jauni kopīgi ekotūrisma maršruti pa Latgali un Aukštaitiju, no kuriem viens būs piemērots personām ar invaliditāti. Lai dažādotu atpūtas iespējas pie ūdeņiem, tiks iegādāts aprīkojums brīvā laika pavadīšanai, ņemot vērā arī tā pielietošanas iespējas personām ar funkcionāliem traucējumiem, kas izvēlējušies ceļot. Tiks iegādātas dažādu veidu laivas, pludmales ratiņkrēsli, SUP dēli, ūdens velosipēdi, katamarāni, glābšanas vestes, ūdens bumbas, āra vingrošanas rīki, kā arī putnu un dzīvnieku vērošanas aprīkojums (teleskops, binokļi). Sabalunkos kempings Sartai un Gražutes reģionālajā parkā kļūs par pirmo pilnīgi pielāgoto atpūtas vietu personām ar funkcionāliem traucējumiem.

Aukštaitja (LT) and Latgale (LV) border regions are rich in natural water objects, which are not fully adapted to the tourism needs, as well for persons with disabilities. Water objects have a great potential to become eco-tourism destination in the region, however lack of tourism products and common eco-tourism routes is observed. In order to promote the development of eco-tourism, the project will improve the infrastructure of water objects and accessibility of them for disabled persons and create new eco-tourism products thus increasing number of visitors in the region. Environmental protection issues will be raised during public activities like adventure camps, tourism festivals, practical seminars by involving tourism specialists, children, families with children, local people and tourists. During the project, the ecotourism situation and its development opportunities in the border area of Latvia and Lithuania will be identified. With the participation of tourism experts from Latvia and Lithuania, 3 new joint eco-tourism routes along Latgale and Aukštaitja will be developed, one of them - for disabled people. In order to diversify recreational opportunities at water objects, various types of equipment will be purchased having in mind persons with special needs for tourist attractions. Following equipment will be bought: different boats, beach wheelchairs, SUP-boards, water bikes, catamarans, life jackets, water balls, outdoor fitness equipment as well as equipment for observing birds and animals (sightseeing telescope, binoculars). Sabalunkos campsite in Sartai and Grazute Regional Parks will become the first fully adjusted site for handicapped in Lithuania.

Achievements (EN):

The project was implemented by seven partners in Latgale and Aukštaitija – municipalities of Preiļi, Riebiņi, and Aglona in Latvia, the districts of Anyksciai and Moletai, Panevezys, as well as the regional parks of Sartu and Grazute in Lithuania. The promotion of tourism is a complex measure – not only the improvement of recreational sites is necessary, but also the education of service providers and cooperation between entrepreneurs and municipalities. Therefore, during the project from May 2, 2018, until February 1, 2020, the local governments and organizations carried out various and diverse activities to develop environmentally-friendly tourism in the region. Recreation sites (Preiļi beach, Sabalunkos campsite in Zarasai district, Galuono lake in Balninkai, Alauso lake in Inturke, Moletai town beach, Nevežys river in Panevežys, Ciriša beach in Aglona, lakes of Riebiņi district, Šventoji river in Anyksciai) were improved to promote the attractiveness of these areas in the eyes of tourists. Water equipment was purchased – 3 rowboats, 3 puddle boats, 1 boat, 41 SUP – Boards, 7 water bikes, 5 catamarans, 87 life jackets, 4 water balls, 2 water zorb, 2 trailers for boat, 1 sound system, 1 inflatable attraction for children, 2 outdoor tennis tables, 20 tennis rackets, and 30 balls, 1 beach badminton set, 10 beach football balls, 10 volleyball balls, 1 sightseeing telescope and 2 binoculars, 1 outdoor tent. Infrastructure objects were created – outdoor fitness equipment installed at Cirīša lake in Aglona, the Pontoon dock and handhold for handicapped persons in Sabalunkos campsite in Gražute regional park, mobile beach house with WC, shower and changing room adjusted for handicapped people in Moletai, modular container-warehouse for water equipment in Riebiņi, pontoon for water equipment in Aglona. Equipment for handicapped people in Preili, Moletai, and Sartu and Grazute regional parks was purchased – 6 beach wheelchairs in Preili, Moletai, Sartai, and Grazutes regional parks; 2 wheel boats in Preili and Moletai. To maintain the water objects in the partners’ territory equipment was purchased – 3 water grass cutters, 1 vibroblade, 1 pontoon and mud pump set, work clothes for grass cutting, and additional equipment for the pontoon and grass cutters. A capacity-building seminar for tourism stakeholders in Anykščiai on 10-11 October 2018, a practical seminar for nature interpreters, local guides, and park guides in Antaliepte on 19-20 September 2018, and a brainstorm meeting in Preili on 12 December 2018 were organized to raise awareness on cultural and natural heritage objects. 3 common tourism routes “I travel for Nature”; “Travel with no limits”; “7 Days – 7 Lakes” in Latvia and Lithuania were developed. The environmentally friendly attitude was promoted by organizing two adventure camps for children – in Aglona on 15 – 21 July 2018, and in Antaliepte (Gražute regional park) on 2-8 August 2019. An interactive APP “Pure water” was developed, through which every visitor of lakes, rivers and ponds can try to determine the water quality of the particular water body and learn to recognize animals and plants living in water and shore. Available at ‎Pure Water Eco Travel on the App Store (apple.com) and Pure Water – Apps on Google Play Four tourism festivals were organized – Lake festival in Rušonas lake on 4 August 2018, (video ), Eco-festival in Aizkalne on 31 May – 1 June 2019, (video), Nature festival in Antaliepte (Grazute regional park) on June 29-30, 2019, a winter festival in Panevežys city on 20 January, 2019. Water biodiversity was investigated in Šventas lake, LT. The collected data shows that the quality of the lake is very good, investigated species indicate that the lake has a low anthropogenic impact, also rare species of plants and water insects were found. Local guides and nature guides are providing information for tourists, the local tourism company is organizing eco-tours on Šventas lake with SUP boards and visitors are informed about the biodiversity. It is a practical document containing specific recommendations for each municipality involved in the project, in order to promote environmentally friendly tourism. Expected Results (EN): Overnight stays of visitors in the programme area

Expected Outputs (EN):

1) Improved the environment of accessibility for people with disabilities. 2)established a joint cross-border approach for the development of eco-tourism; 3)Promoted environmentally friendly attitude, which means a sense of responsibility towards the environment, and to raise awareness of the environment protection; 4) Developed a new eco-tourism product by raising the awareness on cultural and natural heritage objects and authenticity of traditions. Planned project activities and achieved results will help to increase overnight stays of visitors in the Programme area. Purchased equipment will be ensured more attractive water tourism product and purchased SUP- Boards will serve as supplement for existing tourism offers. Other water equipment as puddle boats, row, boats, beach wheelchairs, wheel boats, water bikes, catamarans, outdoor fitness equipment ensure active leisure time for tourists. In frame of project will be elaborated at least 3 common tourism routes: 1 route for weekend, 1 route for week, 1 route for people with special needs. This new eco - tourism product will ensure the incensement of overnight stays of visitors in the Programme area. By organisation of adventure camps for schoolchildren “World of nature is all around us” and developed interactive APP about water quality will promote environmentally friendly attitude, which means a sense of responsibility towards the environment, and to raise awareness of the environment protection. The target group for the summer camps is selected with the aim educating the next tourists, who will travel around with environmentally friendly attitude and will take care of nature. In future will increase number of children, who are taking part in adventure camps, and it will ensure increase of overnight stays of visitors.
