Description (EN):

Targeted cross-border area (Osijek-Baranja County in Croatia and West Backa District in Serbia) has rich tourism potentials which are in some cases insufficiently recognized and under-utilised. Precisely, tourism offer is not accommodated to persons with visual impairment and blindness (BVI), resulting in exclusion of this disability group from the rich tourist offer of this area which is characterised by natural and cultural heritage, population of multi-ethnic structure and large number of traditional cultural events. The project is based on the principle of inclusion, enabling BVI persons to fully participate in newly designed tourism offer; and the principle of applying modern solutions and advanced IC technologies which will enable BVI persons to use the new tourism offer in its full capacity. The main objective of the project is to create preconditions for developing tourism in target cross-border area through diversification of tourism offer to persons with visual impairment and blindness. As a result, new tourism offer, accommodated to the specific needs of BVI persons will be created. There are 10 project outputs and they include: Completed needs assessment; Mapped joint tourism routes; Produced action plan; Created specialized tools using advanced IC technologies; Implemented trainings for tourism workers; Held meetings with associations of persons with visual impairment and blindness and with tourism agencies and organizations; Printed special leaflets in braille; Developed web site; Conducted comprehensive media campaign, and; Organised promo tours. The project main target group are persons with visual impairment and blindness, along with their family members and friends; their associations; tourism workers, representatives of local self-governments, tourism organizations and tourism agencies; journalists, etc. Project added value is an introduction of completely new offer/service.

Expected Results (EN): Number of overnights in the programme area.

Expected Outputs (EN):

Project main results are: 1. Established new tourism offer which is accommodated to the specific needs of persons with visual impairment and blindness. 2. Provided broad visibility of new tourism offer for persons with visual impairment and blindness. They will contribute to the programme result indicator (Increased number of overnights in the programme area, by our estimates at least 20%) by introducing new tourism offer that did not exist before and by conducting comprehensive promotional campaign which will inform these persons about this offer. Concretely, project results will contribute to the programme result indicator by: (a) establishing the new offer based on data collected from persons with visual impairment and blindness directly and not on the assumption of their needs, (b) creating the action plan which will develop steps for increasing the number of tourists who are visually impaired or blind, (c) proposing various gastro-cultural routes which will satisfy different preferences of persons with visual impairment and blindness, (d) training tourism workers how to deal with persons with visual impairment and blindness in order to make them feel satisfied with the offer and wish to return or recommend it to others, (e) conducting promo campaign in order to reach as many persons with visual impairment and blindness as possible (through their associations, tourism organizations and tourism agencies, electronic, printed and social media, leaflets, promo tours, etc.).
