CAR will develop systems solutions for the implementation and scale-up of electric vehicle systems. The approach will comprise vehicles, charging posts, payment solutions, business models, and information and discussions with companies and organizations that are interested in investing in fleets of electric vehicles. The goal is to work with several organizations with a potential to invest in ten or more electric vehicles and together with representatives of the organizations explore opportunities, identify obstacles, and drive the process forward toward realization of investments. The project will have access to means to co-finance parts of systems development that can be driven by public organizations. This could mean investments in charging infrastructure, software development, or pilot testing of applications. The project will also develop a competence resource in the form of a strategy setting network that will continue to work with systems and business related aspects of the large scale transformation of transport systems.

Expected Results (EN):

The idea behind CAR is to turn the South Baltic Region into a hot-bed for the development of electric vehicle systems and a region where cross-border functionality is in focus. In order for solutions to last and become transferable, they need to be developed with a systems perspective in mind. This means that systems need to be attractive and competitive from a number of different perspectives, such as cost, services and convenience. Companies and organizations that contribute to developing competitive and attractive systems are likely to last and those that do not may not last as long. The project leader, Mats Larsson, has been active in the area of large scale transformation of transport systems since 2004, he has written two books (“Global Energy Transformation” (2009) and “The Business of Global Energy Transformation” (2012)) that have been published internationally by Palgrave Macmillan, now a member of the Springer Group, the world’s leading publisher of academic literature.

Expected Outputs (EN): 1) Pilot cases that have implemented solutions for the transformation to a cross border fossil-free electric fleet vehicle system in the Baltic Sea Region. 2) Strategy Setting Network.
