The "IT CULTURE" project aims to highlight and enhance the cultural heritage of the region and "grab" the attention of the tourist public. Although the area is of an unique significance of culture elements and natural beauty attractions, it is not yet sufficiently developed. The new tourism product will include innovations (through IT systems) that will help promoting it, in a way that so far has not been achieved. The purpose of the project is the tourist and cultural enhancement of cross-border region with a view to develop a new and more attractive tourist destination. The direct outputs of the project will be the preservation and promotion of cultural resources as a prerequisite for tourism development. The overall objective of the proposed project will be the increasing of tourist traffic in cultural and tourist monuments, with main result the development of alternative forms of tourism and promotion of local tourism businesses. The project's main outputs among others are an integrated publicity plan combined with publicity materials and cultural events with primary purpose of informing the public about the project, the creation of an Internet Site and an innovative e-platform to be used for the wider information of people about the tourist and cultural attractions through the use of new technologies, studies on the current situation of tourism, new tourist routes and museological studies to be used as a first step towards the further establishment of cultural and archaelogical museums in the cross border region. Another important output will be the IT technologies establishment through the creation of mobile applications, informational signs and digital touch screens with a view to familiarizing tourists with the use of new technologies. The approach designed is based on the introduction of new technologies upon the traditional way of promoting the tourism product.The two cross border regions because of the similarities that they have on the cultural heritage and touristic products will exchange good practices and will complement each other. As it is mentioned, this will be the first time that such innovative technological methods will be used in the project areas, a fact that will certainly have long-term value. Through the promotion of tourism and cultural product the local economy will show a rise and improvement, having as a result the creation of new jobs and the wider local economic development.

Expected Results (EN):

The expected results of the project during and after its implementation are: 1.Development of a branded touristic product oriented to cultural tourism, 2.Promotion of sites and areas of cultural identity through the use of technology, 3.Attraction and increase of the number of visitors in the cross border area interested in alternative forms of tourism, 4.Improvement of institutional capacity of the bodies of the partnership to develop a sustainable manner of cultural resources of the region project and improve the bearing capacity of attracting tourists, 5.Creation of opportunities to businesses and their products as well as the services producers in the border region, to increase their sales, given the fact that the growth of tourism will be remarkable, 6. Extension of the tourism season, as the new form of tourism will not be based on the sun and sea and therefore will exist tourist movement throughout the year, 7.Promotion of sites and areas of cultural identity through the use of technology, 8.Attraction of new investment in the cross - border area. 9. Decrease of high unemployment rates in the cross border region. The expected project results contribute both to output and result indicators of the Program as especially through the creation of cultural routes that will be promoted by the use of innovative multimedia means, the increase in the expected number of visits to supported locations of cultural heritage and hence the positive change of annual overnight stays in tourist accommodations will be achieved.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The expected main outputs of the project are: 1.Publicity plan of the project, 2.Site & social media profiles, 3.Publicity materials, 4.Cultural events, 5.Mapping & definition of two cultural routes in the project area (one in Greece & one in Albania), 6.Informational signs with qrcodes, 7.Museological studies for the establisment of cultural and archaeological museums both in greek and albanian cross border region, 8.Research for the existing tourist flows in the region and for best practices implemented at sites of natural interest in Europe, 9.Collection & digitalization of primary material, 10.Innovative platform that aims to increase user's interaction with the object of the project (Interactive games, training activities for the history of the monuments), 11.Two Digital screens, 12.Development of application for mobiles & tablets, which will support the qrcodes of the aforementioned informational signs, 13.Development of marketing plan of the new touristic alternative product (cultural tourism), 14.Organization of press conferences (media events) in which representatives of media from both countries will participate, 15.Participation in two extremely important European institutions (Council of Europe Cultural Routes & European Institute of Cultural Routes) for the promotion of the two cultural routes, 16.Evaluation study for the actions of the project. All outputs are linked to the objectives that related to the development and promotion of natural monuments leading to the strengthening of natural tourism. The main output of the project that mostly contribute to its output indicator, regarding the supported sites of cultural interest, is the mapping of the cultural routes an the promotion of them through IT tools.
