The Interreg project Green Drive Region — A boundless investment in fossil-free road transport in inner Scandinavia — includes Värmland, Dalarna, Gävleborg, Hedmark and Akershus. The aim of the project is to reduce the use of fossil fuels in road transport, as it accounts for a large part of the emissions of climate gases. For example, by increasing demand for alternative fuels vehicles, 10 % of road traffic in the region could be fossil-independent by the end of 2018. The project has been completed, take note of the results, insights and ideas about future efforts for fossil-free transport from the Green Drive Region in their final report.

Interreg-projektet Green Drive Region – En gränslös satsning på fossilfria vägtransporter i inre Skandinavien – omfattar Värmland, Dalarna, Gävleborg, Hedmark och Akershus. Målet för projektet är att minska användningen av fossila bränslen i vägtrafiken, eftersom den står för en stor del av utsläppen av klimatgaser. Genom att till exempel öka efterfrågan på fordon som drivs med alternativa bränslen kan 10 procent av vägtrafiken i regionen vara fossiloberoende vid slutet av 2018. Projektet har avslutats, ta del av resultat, insikter och idéer kring framtida insatser för fossilfria transporter från Green Drive Region i deras slutrapport.

Achievements (EN):

Green Drive Region has been a three-year Interreg project in Inner Scandinavia. The project has been under the focus area “”Hållbara Transporter“”. Participating regions have been Akershus, Hedmark, Østfold, Värmland, Dalarna and Gävleborg. The aim of the project has been to contribute to reduced emissions from the transport sector, focusing on the passenger car segment. The project has had work packages on electrification, biofuels, hydrogen, communication and project management. The aim has been to increase the proportion of fossil-independent vehicles in the region during the project period, but the extent to which the project has had the opportunity to influence this directly is limited. This is largely influenced by national framework conditions, such as incentives for the purchase and use of zero-emission vehicles. But even though the project has little impact on the goal, the project has increased knowledge about the different fuels, created local engagement, prepared reports, created important meeting places, expanded networks and worked strategically with municipalities for phasing out fossil fuels, among other things. The project has worked to strengthen cooperation across the border and between the regions. The cooperation has been particularly strengthened between the various project managers and the organisations they represent, but also external and other actors in the project have benefited from the cross-border cooperation.

Achievements (NO):

Green Drive Region har vært et treårig Interreg-prosjekt i Indre Skandinavia. Prosjektet har ligget under fokusområdet "Hållbara Transporter". Deltakende regioner har vært Akershus, Hedmark, Østfold, Värmland, Dalarna og Gävleborg. Målet i prosjektet har vært å bidra til reduserte utslipp fra transportsektoren, med fokus på personbilsegmentet. Prosjektet har hatt arbeidspakker på elektrifisering, biodrivstoff, hydrogen, kommunikasjon og prosjektledelse. Målsetningen har vært å øke andelen fossiluavhengige kjøretøy i regionen under prosjektperioden, men det er begrenset i hvor stor grad prosjektet har hatt mulighet til å påvirke dette direkte. Dette er i høy grad påvirket av nasjonale rammebetingelser, slik som insentiver ved kjøp og bruk av nullutslippskjøretøy. Men selv om prosjektet i liten grad har kunnet påvirke målet, har prosjektet økt kunnskapen om de ulike drivstoffene, skapt engasjement lokalt, utarbeidet rapporter, skapt viktige møteplasser, utvidet nettverk og jobbet strategisk med kommuner for utfasing av fossile drivstoff, blant annet. Prosjektet har jobbet for å styrke samarbeidet over grensen og mellom regionene. Samarbeidet har spesielt blitt styrket mellom de ulike prosjektlederne og organisasjonene de representerer, men også eksterne og andre aktører i prosjektet har hatt nytte av det grenseoverskridende samarbeidet.
