Description (ES):

El objetivo principal de este proyecto es la creación de una red científica de excelencia en el campo de las enfermedades priónicas. Estas enfermedades neurodegenerativas afectan tanto a la ganadería de la zona transfronteriza franco-española como a su población humana y no existe ningún tratamiento o prueba diagnóstica ante-mortem fiable para su detección. La transmisión de priones animales a los seres humanos (zoonosis) por el consumo de alimentos contaminados sigue siendo un motivo de preocupación para las autoridades sanitarias europeas. Nuestro proyecto propone coordinar las actividades y combinar las habilidades específicas de Centros de Investigación, de grandes centros hospitalarios y de socios privados de la región transfronteriza con los fines siguientes: - Proteger a las personas de los riesgos asociados a las enfermedades priónicas (zoonosis y transmisión iatrogénica). - Desarrollar enfoques terapéuticos y herramientas de diagnóstico innovadores destinados a pacientes. - Asegurar la sostenibilidad de las cadenas productivas específicas en la región transfronteriza, ante el riesgo de los agentes priónicos en el campo agroalimentario. - Informar a los responsables y profesionales encargados de Salud Pública y Sanidad Animal, a los actores implicados en las cadenas de producción y al público en general, de las soluciones e innovaciones en el ámbito de la prevención de los riesgos asociados a estas enfermedades.

Description (FR):

L'objectif principal de ce projet est la création d’un réseau scientifique d’excellence consacré aux maladies à prions. Ces maladies neurodégénératives touchent à la fois les populations d'animaux de rente et les populations humaines de la région transfrontalière. Il n’existe aujourd'hui aucun traitement ou test diagnostic ante mortem pour ces affections. La transmission de prions animaux à l’homme (zoonose) par la consommation de produits contaminés est une inquiétude majeure pour les autorités de santé européennes. Notre projet vise à coordonner l'action et les compétences de centres de recherche académiques, de groupes hospitaliers et d'entreprises innovantes de la région transfrontalière afin - De mieux protéger les populations contre les risques associés aux maladies à Prion (zoonose et transmission iatrogéne). - De développer des approches thérapeutiques et des outils diagnostic innovants à destination des patients. - D’assurer la pérennité des filières d'élevage de la région transfrontalière face aux risques engendrés par les maladies à prion (agro-alimentaire). - D’informer les responsables et les professionnels en charge de Santé Publique et Animale, les acteurs des filières de production et le grand public des solutions et des innovations en matière de prevention des risques associés à ces maladies.

Description (EN):

The main target of this project is the creation of a scientific network of excellence dedicated to prion diseases. These neurodegenerative diseases affect the animals and human populations of the franco-spanish border area and there is no treatment or ante-mortem diagnostic test reliable for detection. The transmission of animal prions to humans (zoonoses) by the consumption of contaminated food remains a major concern for the European health authorities. Our project aims to coordinate and combine the skills of Research Centres, large hospital centres and private partners of the cross-border region so: - to better protect people from the risks associated with prion diseases (zoonoses and iatrogenic transmission). - to develop therapeutic approaches and innovative diagnostic tools for patients. - to ensure the sustainability of the specific production chains in the crossborder region in the face of the risk of prion agents in the agri-food field., - to inform policymakers and professionals in charge of Public and Animal Health, skateholders in the production chains and the general public of the solutions and innovations in the field of the prevention of risks associated with these diseases.
