Green Building A-Z

The Green Building A-Z project aims to make public buildings more energy efficient. To succeed with this, skills development goes as a common thread throughout the project. In order for public buildings to be more energy efficient, municipalities need to have the knowledge to set the right requirements in procurements. Companies also need to be able to meet the requirements to build more sustainable and energy efficient. In addition, the end user must be able to use the building in an energy efficient way. In order to achieve the three objectives, new knowledge and skills of stakeholders are needed. “The municipalities are some of the biggest developers and therefore we think we have a responsibility to go first, to show that we are major developers and that we want to take responsibility,” says project manager Christina Grann Myrdal. Skills enhancement and exchange of experience: In order to increase the knowledge of the project’s partners, they work, among other things, with training and development on construction sites. The project will also organise networking activities where municipalities and companies will discuss solutions together. Another important effort is to develop five pilot projects to show how new buildings and renovation projects can reduce energy consumption. We need to gain experience in how we can build sustainably, but primarily the project is about skills lifting so that we become wiser when we are going to build or renovate. That’s why we work with a mix of practical cases and competence development. Naturally with cooperation between countries: With such a clear focus on a competence boost, Christina Grann Myrdal believes it is self-evident to cooperate across borders. She explains, for example, how educational bodies in the different countries will work to develop their trainings during the project and to share each other’s knowledge in that work. Already in the application process, we saw that in the partnership we have different experiences and different ways of working with sustainable building, and we can all learn from each other. Therefore, it makes sense to have the entire palette with participants from Scandinavia. I notice that everyone in the partnership is very curious to find out how the others work with sustainable construction. Another project activity is network meetings where external parties should also share good and less good examples. Similarly, the project will work on anchoring its results both internally and externally. Sustainable construction should become normal status: Once the project is completed, their goal is to have pushed the sustainable construction in the right direction. Green Building A-Z wants to have contributed to increased knowledge and good relationships in the partnership so that the work lives on. They want to have produced a number of good cases, and that some methods have been tested at the educational bodies. We want to help make it normal to build sustainably. Projektet Green Building A-Z vill bidra till att offentliga byggnader blir mer energieffektiva. För att lyckas med det går kompetensutveckling som en röd tråd genom hela projektet. För att offentliga byggnader ska bli mer energieffektiva behöver kommuner ha kunskapen att ställa rätt krav i upphandlingar. Företag behöver också kunna nå upp till kraven att bygga mer hållbart och energieffektivt. Dessutom måste slutanvändaren kunna använda byggnaden på ett energieffektivt sätt. För att nå de tre målen behövs ny kunskap och mer kompetens hos berörda parter. – Kommunerna är några av de största byggherrarna och därför tycker vi att vi har ett ansvar att gå först, att visa att vi är stora byggherrar och att vi vill ta ett ansvar, säger projektledare Christina Grann Myrdal. Kompetenslyft och erfarenhetsutbyte: För att öka kunskapen hos projektets partners arbetar de bland annat med utbildning och utveckling på byggnadsplatser. Projektet kommer också att anordna nätverksaktiviteter där kommuner och företag ska diskutera lösningar tillsammans. Ytterligare en viktig insats är att ta fram fem pilotprojekt som ska visa hur man i nybyggnationer och renoveringsprojekt kan minska energiförbrukningen. – Vi behöver få erfarenhet i hur vi kan bygga hållbart, men primärt handlar projektet om kompetenslyft så att vi blir klokare när vi ska bygga eller renovera. Därför arbetar vi med en blandning av praktiska case och kompetensutveckling. Naturligt med samarbete mellan länder: Med ett så tydligt fokus på ett kompetenslyft anser Christina Grann Myrdal att det är självklart att samarbeta över gränserna. Hon berättar exempelvis om hur utbildningsinstanser i de olika länderna ska arbeta med att utveckla deras utbildningar under projektets gång och ta del av varandras kunskaper i det arbetet. – Redan i ansökningsprocessen såg vi att vi i partnerskapet har olika erfarenheter och olika sätt att arbeta med hållbart byggande på, och vi kan alla lära av varandra. Därför ger det mening att ha med hela paletten med deltagare från Skandinavien. Jag märker att alla i partnerskapet är väldigt nyfikna på att få reda på hur de andra arbetar med hållbart byggande. Ytterligare en projektaktivitet är nätverksträffar där även externa parter ska dela med sig av bra och mindre bra exempel. Likaså ska projektet arbete med att förankra sina resultat såväl internt som externt. Hållbart byggande ska bli normalstatus: När projektet är avslutat är deras mål att ha knuffat det hållbara byggandet i rätt riktning. Green Building A-Z vill ha bidragit till ökad kunskap och goda relationer i partnerskapet så att arbetet lever vidare. De vill ha tagit fram ett antal goda case, samt att en del metoder har testats på utbildningsinstanserna. – Vi vill bidra till att det blir normalstatus att bygga hållbart. Att man alltid tänker in miljön och naturen när man bygger, säger Christina Grann Myrdal.
