Hanseatic League of Science interconnecting infrastructures for life science research and innovation

Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak ska bli ett världsledande center för Life science och innovation — genome German samarbete. Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak will become a world-leading centre for Life Science and Innovation — through German collaboration. This is done by connecting the four unique research facilities MAX IV, ESS, DESY and European XFEL. It is a project that breaks new ground within Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak by having several partners from a country outside the Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak programme geography. It is in close cooperation with German actors in the Hamburg region that strengths, capabilities and critical mass will be shaped into a regional Life Science centre at a global level. In addition to Swedish, Danish and German actors, Norwegian Oslo University is part of the project, but not as a regular partner but with self-financing. The project will link the large research facilities in Lund (ESS and MAX IV) with the German facilities DESY and European XFEL. The plants complement each other and are expected to provide synergies and a powerful resource for Life Science research and innovation. Within the geography Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak-Hamburg there are hundreds of companies within MedTech, BioTech and Pharma as well as many hundred Life Science researchers at universities and institutes. Together, the project actors see a foundation for a much stronger Life Science region than the ÖKS area can become on their own. In HALOS, industry is linked with researchers from six universities and with the four research facilities. The main part of the project consists of 36 (+ 5 from Oslo University) six-month experiments, according to the same model as, now completed, the project, ESS & MAX IV: Cross Border Science and Society. The difference is that the model will be more closely linked to the business world, focus on Life Science and be expanded to a larger geography and with additional technologies.

Det är ett projekt som bryter ny mark inom Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak genom att ha flera partner från ett land utanför programgeografin Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak. Det är i nära samarbete med tyska aktörer i Hamburgregionen som styrkor, kapacitet och kritisk massa ska formas till ett regionalt Life Science-center på global nivå. Förutom svenska, danska och tyska aktörer ingår norska Oslo universitet i projektet, fast inte som regelrätt partner utan med självfinansiering. Projektet ska knyta de stora forskningsanläggningarna i Lund (ESS och MAX IV) samman med de tyska anläggningarna DESY och European XFEL. Anläggningarna kompletterar varandra och väntas ge synergieffekter och en kraftfull resurs för Life Science-forskning och innovation. Inom geografin Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak-Hamburg finns hundratals företag inom MedTech, BioTech och Pharma samt många hundra Life Science forskare på universitet och institut. Tillsammans ser projektaktörerna en grund för en mycket starkare Life Science region än vad ÖKS-området kan bli på egen hand. I HALOS knyts näringslivet samman med forskare från sex universitet och med de fyra forskningsanläggningarna. Projektets huvuddel består av 36 (+5 från Oslo Universitet) stycken sexmånadersexperiment, enligt samma modell som, nu avslutade projektet, ESS & MAX IV: Cross Border Science and Society arbetat med. Skillnaden är att modellen i högre grad ska kopplas samman med näringslivet, fokusera på Life Science samt utökas till en större geografi och med ytterligare tekniker.
