In 2017-2018, the partners “St. Cyril and Methodius-1894“- Community Centre, Topolovgrad, Bulgaria and the Pinarhisar Municipality, Turkey, implemented the “Cross-border cooperation network in tourism Topolovgrad-Pinarhisar“ project, financed by the INTERREG program for cross-border cooperation Bulgaria-Turkey 2014-2020. The activities were interconnected, and their successful implementation was carried out with the participation of a wide range of representatives of institutions and organizations from both municipalities - Topolovgrad and Pinarhisar.
The work of the team was aimed at attracting additional tourist interest to the Topolovgrad-Pinarhisar region by presenting and exploring the historical and natural sites of the two territories. The primary approach to the implementation was also related to the creation of new attractive cultural events, namely through the organization of Festivals.
The project started with a Cross-border forum in Topolovgrad, where the representatives of local authorities, organizations, institutions, and citizens from both cities got to know each other and presented the tourist sites in the region, which have the potential to become tourist attractions.
"How to promote the potential of both municipalities to achieve Sustainable Tourism development" was the main topic of the Pinarhisar Training Workshop, thus increasing the capacity of a total of 44 representatives of the two municipalities to carry out tourist activities to attract new visitors to the region.
The Photo Lanes, with the participation of 24 young people, in the two cities attracted the interest of local citizens and visitors of Topolovgrad and Pinarhisar and included photos and texts of the most significant cultural and historical sites of both regions. This innovative initiative presented the richness of the cross-border Topolovgrad-Pinarhisar region and enriched the opportunities for attracting additional tourist and visitor's interest.
Within the framework of the project, two new cultural events were set up: the Festival of Honey and trickle in Pinarhisar and the Festival of Bread and Wine in Topolovgrad, which will become a tradition and will attract new visitors each year. Extremely attractive for the participants and the guests were the two expositions – of honey and local traditional foods in Pinarhisar and of bakery products, wine and local traditional foods in Topolovgrad, which were accompanied by the preparation of local dishes and tasting of the dishes from the two regions, and concerts with the participation of Bulgarian and Turkish artistic and creative formations, provoked true admiration. The Topolovgrad and Pinarhisar Festivals attracted more than 1200 spectators and participants who have certainly become good ambassadors for the culture of both communities. Both events were widely reported in the media of the two countries.
The “Topolovgrad-Pinarhisar cross-border co-operation network in tourism” project ended with an international conference with 60 representatives of NGOs, educational and cultural institutions, local authorities and local businesses in the tourism industry, media. As a culmination of the project, an Agreement between the Municipality of Topolovgrad and the Municipality of Pinarhisar for cooperation in the field of tourism was signed within the framework of the Conference. The main conclusions that emerged were related to the successful implementation of the project in the direction of acquaintance with the common heritage, the exchange of experience and good practices, and the motivation of the participants to implement common initiatives in tourism. In order to promote the project and the overall tourist potential, the Promotional Film “Cross-border region Topolovgrad-Pinarhisar - an incredible experience” was created, through which the potential visitors of the region can get acquainted with the activities in the project, with the unique resources of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the region, the Festival of Honey and Trickle in Pinarhisar and the Festival of Bread and Wine in Topolovgrad.

През 2017 – 2018 година партньорите Читалище „Св.Св. Кирил и Методий- 1894“ – Тополовград, България и Община Пинархисар, Турция реализираха проект „Мрежа за трансгранично сътрудничество в областта на туризма Тополовград- Пинархисар“, финансиран от Програма Интеррег за трансгранично сътрудничество България– Турция 2014- 2020. Дейностите бяха взаимосвързани и успешното им изпълнение се осъществи с участието на широк кръг представители на институции и организации от двете общини - Тополовград и Пинархисар. Работата на екипа бе насочена към привличане на допълнителен туристически интерес към региона Тополовград - Пинархисар чрез представяне и опознаване на историческите и природни обекти на двете територии. Основният подход при изпълнението бе свързан и със създаването на нови атрактивни културни прояви, а именно чрез провеждане на Фестивали.
Проектът стартира с Трансграничен форум в Тополовград, на който представители на местните власти, организации, институции и граждани от двата града се опознаха взаимно и представиха туристическите обекти в региона, които имат потенциал да се превърнат в туристически атракции.
„Как да промотираме потенциала на двете общини, за да постигнем развитие на устойчив туризъм“ бе основната тема на проведения в Пинархисар Обучителен семинар, като по този начин се повиши капацитета на общо 44 представители на двете общини за осъществяване на туристически дейности за привличане на нови посетители в региона.
Изключителен интерес у местните жители и посетителите на Тополовград и Пинархисар предизвикаха създадените с участието на общо 24 младежи Фотоалеи в двата града, които включват фотоси и текстове на най- значимите културно- исторически и културни обекти от двата района. Тази иновативна инициатива представи нагледно богатството на трансграничния регион Тополовград- Пинархисар и обогати възможностите за привличане на допълнителен туристически и посетителски интерес.
В рамките на проекта се създадоха две нови културни събития- Фестивал на меда и петмеза в Пинархисар и Фестивал на хляба и виното в Тополовград, които ще се превърнат в традиция и по този начин ще привличат всяка година нови посетители. Изключително атрактивни за участниците и гостите се оказаха двете Изложения – на мед и местни традиционни храни в Пинархисар и на хлебни изделия, вино и местни традиционни храни в Тополовград, които бяха съпроводени от приготвянето на място и дегустацията на ястия от двата района, а съвместните Концерти с участието на български и турски художествено- творчески формации предизвикаха истинско възхищение. Фестивалите в Тополовград и Пинархисар привлякоха повече от 1200 зрители и участници, които със сигурност се превърнаха в добри посланици на културата на двете общности. И двете събития бяха широко отразени в медиите от двете държави.

Като кулминация на проекта, в рамките на Конференцията бе подписано Споразумение между Община Тополовград и Община Пинархисар за сътрудничество в областта на туризма. Основните изводи, които се наложиха бяха свързани с успешното реализиране на проекта в насока опознаване на общото наследство, обмен на опит и добри практики и мотивиране на участниците за осъществяване на общи инициативи в областта на туризма. В подкрепа на бъдещото сътрудничество на двамата партньори от Тополовград и Пинархисар бе разработен и представен Маркетингов доклад, който включва конкретни насоки и препоръки към местните власти и организации за развитие на устойчив туризъм в трансграничния регион.
С цел популяризиране на проекта и на общия туристическия потенциал бе създаден Промоционалния филм „Трансграничния регион Тополовград – Пинархисар - невероятно преживяване“, чрез който и в бъдеще потенциалните посетители на региона могат да се запознаят с дейностите, реализирани по проекта, с уникалните ресурси на материалното и нематериално културно наследство в региона, Фестивала на меда и петмеза в Пинархисар и с Фестивала на хляба и виното в Тополовград.
