The project will enhance the tourism potential of 2 target cross-border regions in Bulgaria and Macedonia through identifying, promoting and sustainable utilisation of natural and cultural heritage assets in the respective areas and promoting the cooperation between respective regional actors in the field of sustainable tourism.The project envisages to make a research of the potential of the two target areas to develop alternative tourism and to identify the natural and cultural heritage sites, services and traditions that can boost the touristic potential of the region. A series of three training will be organised for the representatives of the target groups; Two touristic cultural fairs will be organised respectively in Blagoevgrad (BG) and Stip (MK). A Guide on Alternative Tourism in the target areas will be composed and a website developed where all the identified natural and cultural heritage and services will be pinned on the electronic map. Identified at least 40 natural and cultural heritage sites and at least 40 alterative services in the 2 target areas; the potential of the target areas to develop alternative tourism studies; 60 representatives of the target groups informed and trained how to preserve and manage the natural and cultural heritage and how to establish sustainable business. 2 touristic cultural fairs gathering more than 60 key actors organised in Blagoevgrad and Stip; a Guide on Alternative tourism developed; a website developed; a final conference gathering more than 50 representatives of the target groups and key actors in the field of tourism held in Stip.

Проектът ще повиши туристическия потенциал в двата целеви трансграничнични региона в България и Македония чрез идентифициране, насърчаване и устойчивото използване на природните дадености и културното наследство в съответните области, насърчавайки сътрудничеството между съответните регионални участници в областта на устойчивото развитие на туризма. Проектът предвижда да се изготви проучване на потенциала в двете целеви области, за да се стимулира алтернативния туризъм и да се идентифицират природното и културното наследство, услугите и традициите, които могат да увеличат туристическия потенциал на региона. Ще се организират серия от три обучение за представителите на целевите групи; Два туристически и културни изложения ще бъдат организирани съответно в Благоевград (BG) и Щип (МК). Нръчник на алтернативния туризъм в целевите райони, разработване на уеб сайт в които всички идентифицирани обекта на природното и културното наследство и услуги ще бъде прикачени и обозначени на електронната карта. Ще бъдат идентифицирани най-малко 40 обекта от природното и културното наследство и най-малко 40 алтернативна услуги в двете целеви области; алтернативни проучвания за потенциала на целевите райони за развитие в туризма; 60 представители на целевите групи ще бъдат информирани и обучени как да се опази и управлява природното и културното наследство и как да се създаде устойчив бизнес, ще бъдат организирани 2 туристически и културни изложения в Благоевград и Щип на които се очаква да присъстват повече от 60 ключови участника; Ще бъде разработен Наръчник на Алтернативния туризъм; разработена и създадена интернет страница; заключителна конференция която ще се проведе в Щип, с участието на повече от петдесет представители на целевите групи и ключовите участника в областта на туризма.

Проектот ќе го зголеми туристичкиот потенцијал на 2 целни прекугранични региони во Бугарија и Македонија преку идентификување, промовирање и одржливо користење на природното и културното наследство во соодветните области и унапредување на соработката помеѓу соодветните регионални актери во областа на одржливиот туризам. Проектот предвидува да се направи истражување на потенцијалот на двете целни области за развој на алтернативниот туризам и да се идентификува природното и културното наследство, услугите и традициите кои можат да го зголемат на туристичките потенцијали на регионот. Ќе бидат организирани серија од три обуки за претставниците на целните групи; ќе се одржт два туристички културни саеми, во Благоевград (Бугарија) и Штип (Македонија). Ќе биде составен Водич за алтернативен туризам на целните области и ќе биде развиена веб страна каде што идентификуваното природно и културно наследство и услуги ќе бидат закачени на електронската карта. Ќе бидат идентификувани најмалку 40 сајтови за природно и културно наследство, а најмалку 40 алтернативни услуги во 2 целни области; потенцијалот на целните области за развој на алтернативен туризам студии; 60 претставници на целните групи информирани и обучени како да се зачува и да управува со природното и културното наследство и како да се воспостави одржлив бизнис. 2 туристички културни саеми за собирање на повеќе од 60 клучните актери организирани во Благоевград и Штип; Изработен Водич за Алтернативен туризам; изработен веб-сајт; финална конференција за повеќе од 50 претставници на целните групи и клучните актери во областа на туризмот, што ќе се одржи во Штип.

Achievements (EN):

As described in the application form as result of the project implementation the cross-border impact was achieved in several aspects. The project idea and consecutively the achieved project results stimulated and enhanced the movement of people in the area first by attending the project events and later by being attracted to exploit and benefit from the project outcomes by visiting the identified natural and cultural sites, by using the services and by enjoying the customs and traditions. The project provided a ground for exchange of experience and good practices as at the same time it provoked the establishment of number of personal and professional contacts. The project activities provided possibilities for future common cooperation. The project outcomes and results will be used to develop common tourist packages and offers. The project definitely will build interest within the locals and outside tourists to visit the area and enjoy the identified alternative sites and services, the cultural diversity and identity of the region. The further effects that the project will produce is enhanced cooperation in the field of tourism, development of innovative businesses in the touristic sphere including joint companies, increased understanding and appreciation of both cultures not only by the locals but also by the foreign visitors. During the third training course many ideas for joint business were discussed and business plans were developed. Some of the participants have submitted project proposals under the second call of the Programme addressing priorities of common interest identified during the implementation of the current project.

Indicator; Reached value; Comment Number of cultural events held for promoting the region's cultural identity;7.00;The touristic cultural fairs in Bulgaria and Macedonia presented 6 cultural events that promoted the diversity and identity of the target areas. 1 cultural event was organised during the final conference (1 day of the Fairs is counted as 1 indicator achieved (i.e. 6 days – 6 indicators) and 1 cultural event during the final conference (i.e 7 indicator achieved). During each of the three days of the touristic cultural fair in Blagoevgard, Bulgaria a very rich cultural programme was organised dring all three days of the fair. Several folklore groups presented traditions and customs of the region. (1)During the first day the well-known Dobarski babi presented a reenactment of a wedding, a folklore group from Bachevo presented the tradition “Baba Marta”, the Chitalishte from Skrebatno reenacted the custom “Gluing the Bride” (Лепене на булка). (2) On the second day of the fair in Blagoevgrad the Orchestra of Radio Blagoevgrad together with their soloists held a two-hour long concert of international and Bulgrian songs. (3) On the third day of the fair Individual singers like Hristina Markova and Stoyan Dzelyov performed half an hour singing songs from their repertoires and the group of the women mountaineers from Blagoevgrad and the pensioners' clubs sang mountainous and folklore songs. All the days were accompanied by a degustation of home-made food from the whole region – by the gradmas of Bachevo, Srebatno, by the women from ”We the Women” association and by some local restaurants like Razlozhka Maaza. The three days of the fair in Stip were full of cultural events. (4) During the first day there was a presentation and degustation of traditional Bulgarian and Macedonian food accompanied during the whole day of traditional folklore music and performances. (5) The second day two representatives of Slow Food from Bulgaria (Nadezhda Kroteva) and from Macednia (Strashko Miloshevski) had a workshop on heathy cooking and eating. Brane Atanasov who dedicates himself to help drug abusers overcome the dependence through ecological farming held a workshop “From the field to the Table”. The day continued with traditional degustation of Bulgarian and Macedonian food folklore music performance. (6) The third day continued with dgustations and folklore music but also offered workshops on paining on textile and ceramics. There was a workshop on healthy and traditional food by chef Alex. (7) The day of the closing conference in Vinica was accompanied by a cultural programme delivered by local traditional musicians. A photo exhibition was organised during the events to present the cultural touristic sites identified during the project.
