Description (EN):

CECI aims at improving and developing regional policies through promoting citizen involvement in circular economy. Changes in consumption patterns are essential when striving towards lengthening product life cycles through reuse, repair, remanufacturing and refurbishment as well as energy saving. At the same time, the adoption of sharing economy reduces the need for new products and generation of waste. In the project, Good Practices on citizen involvement are transferred related especially to sharing economy services e.g. tool/toy library, and repair services. In CECI, eight partners from six regions share a strong interest to exchange knowledge of services and citizen involvement in circular economy. The content is in line with the objectives of the EU Circular Economy Package. Through the project, local, regional and national cooperation will develop. CECI will support regions to develop circular economy strategies and solutions, where citizens are in a key role. The activities include a citizen dialogue on local/regional level, as well as interregional capacity building to support the impact on policy instruments. Through the exchange of Good Practices, the partner regions will be better equipped to develop their Action Plans on citizen involvement and circular services. Well-prepared thematic workshops, round-table discussions and site visits will form the basis for sharing expertise and drive the partners towards joint policy development. As a result of CECI, the partner regions will develop knowledge on the importance of citizens in circular economy, and gain expertise in implementing new solutions. In addition, CECI will raise public awareness to create a demand for sustainable services. The changes in consumption patterns will create circular economy business opportunities, green growth and jobs. The Good Practices from the project partners will be documented and shared for wider EU use through the Policy Learning Platform.

Achievements (EN):

In terms of activities, the project has organised a total of 73 policy learning events. It has also identified 61 good practices, produced 6 action plans and led to the increased capacity of 82 people. In terms of results, the project has succeeded in improving 10 regional development policies for a total amount of funds influenced of EUR 1,092,091. 00.

Expected Results (EN):

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: CECI aims at improving and developing regional policies through promoting citizen involvement in circular economy. Moving towards circular economy requires a holistic systemic change. Nevertheless, a change in consumption patterns is essential to reduce material and energy input. CECI will create awareness and incentives on sustainable consumption according to the EU waste hierarchy principles, which prioritize preventing and reducing waste. Changing citizen consumption patterns enable lengthening product life cycles trough reuse, repair, remanufacturing and refurbishment. In addition, the adoption of sharing economy reduces the need for new products. CECI will focus on citizen involvement services, which reduce the need for resources and new products, but at the same time create new business and local jobs. These include sharing economy solutions and repair services. This bottom up approach and the change in consumption patterns will create circular economy business opportunities, green growth and jobs. CECI supports regions to develop and implement circular economy strategies where citizens are in a key role. SUBOBJECTIVES: 1. Develop policy instruments and propose improvements to enhance citizen involvement in circular economy. 2. Enhance green growth through transferring knowledge about circular economy policies and their implementation. 3. Enhance green growth through transferring knowledge about new citizen centered circular economy business opportunities and services. 4. Establish and deepen knowledge and cooperation among local, regional and national stakeholders and consumers. 5. Raise public awareness of the various possibilities of circular economy through involving citizens.

Expected Outputs (EN):

EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE: OUTPUTS: - 6 interregional events including workshops, round table discussions, seminars and site visits to transfer experiences of Good Practices in citizen involvement in circular economy. - 6 stakeholder groups. - 36 meetings with stakeholder groups. - 36 overviews based on regional stakeholder meetings to be presented at the interregional events. - 36 internal meetings/intranet posts etc. for organisational learning where project staff share their expertise inside their own organisation. - 1 definition of CECI methodology and vocabulary. - 1 criteria for identifying CECI Good Practices for citizen involvement in circular economy. - 34 descriptions on Good Practices (5/project region, 4/advisory partner). - 2 thematic studies about the citizen involvement in circular economy analysis. - 6 summary reports/news of outputs from the interregional cooperation. - 6 Action Plans to improve 6 policy instruments. RESULTS: - 80 people with increased professional capacity - 6 policy instruments to be improved: 4 of them w.ill fund new projects, 6 will affect the management of the instrument and 5 will influence the strategic focus of the instrument. COMMUNICATION AND DISSEMINATION OUTPUTS: - 1 detailed communication plan, - 1 poster printed in English/region, possible posters in national languages, - 1 rollup in 6 project regions. - 1 brochure printed in 400 copies/region and disseminated in 6 countries . - active project website. - 6 newsletters in English published and distributed as news in local languages in 6 project regions. - 45 press releases (Phase 1). - activities in social media to be defined in the beginning of the project. - 18 regional dissemination events. - sharing results at 2 international dissemination events/conferences. RESULTS: - 54 appearances in media. - 1200 sessions on the project website per semester. PROJECT MANAGEMENT OUTPUTS: - 1 partnership agreement signed by all partners. - 1 operational plan incl. schedule & updates per semester. - 6 steering group meetings. - 7 progress reports. - 1 final report. RESULTS: Effective and informative day-to-day administration, financial and technical coordination, achievement of project objectives, outputs and results according to the budget as planned in the application.
