Description
Description (EN): The SHREC project addresses the challenge of transition to a low carbon economy, in relation with renewable energy use of business and households facilitating them to invest in low-carbon, renewable energy measures reducing CO2 producing activities and shifting to activities with low CO2 footprint. Urgent need for a transition to a cleaner, more sustainable and less carbon intensive energy future is evident. The SHREC project will tackle issues how to influence the renewable energy production and consumption by business, communities and households.
The project overall objective is to improve regional and national policies increasing the share of energy from renewable sources in the overall energy mix and encouraging and facilitating the production and use of renewables by businesses, communities and households aiming at less carbon intensive energy future.
Partners jointly work aiming at encouraging business investments into renewable energy and new innovative technologies and increasing involvement of energy consumers as active players. To achieve the project goals partners will look at possibilities to encourage technological development in renewable energy (support for business, industry to develop new technologies) as well as to use of social innovation concept to involve consumers (households, communities, industry, business representatives, public authorities) in the transition process shifting towards renewable energy production and consumption. Partners seek to increase the awareness among households, business and public actors of the need and opportunities to use renewable energy as the low-carbon alternative energy.
The main project outputs are: 57 interregional learning events, 8 Action Plans addressing 7 ERDF and 1 local policy instruments, at least 15 good practices will be analysed and shared, 130 people will increase their professional capacities.
Read more Achievements (EN): In terms of activities, the project has organised a total of 57 policy learning events. It has also identified 24 good practices, produced 8 action plans and led to the increased capacity of 149 people.

Expected Results (EN): The project overall objective is to improve regional and national policies increasing the share of energy from renewable sources in the overall energy mix and encouraging and facilitating the production and use of renewables by businesses, communities and households aiming at less carbon intensive energy future
Project sub-objectives:
1. to encourage business investments into renewable energy and new innovative technologies in order to move to more sustainable, low-carbon alternative energy.
Growth in renewable energy is driven by the most innovative technologies that deliver substantial greenhouse gas savings. An important factor is the significant cost decreases for renewables technologies.
2. to increase involvement of energy consumers as active players through demand response, self-consumption or storage in wider use of renewable energy.
Renewables will play a major role in the transition to a clean energy system. A shift to renewable energy will help to mitigate EU import dependency for oil and gas. Working together with energy consumers, business/industry will develop innovative solutions for clean renewable energy. Energy consumers are increasingly taking an active role in the energy system as "energy prosumers": households, SMEs, communities that, in addition to having the choice of their suppliers , are also producing energy themselves and could become important participants in energy markets.
3. to increase an acceptance and awareness among households, communities, business and public actors of the need and opportunities to use renewable energy as the low-carbon alternative energy.
Integrated regional strategies related to shift to the consumption of renewable energy are needed to identify the most promising areas of action, mobilise stakeholders, facilitate and channel public and private investments and increase the awareness among inhabitants, business and public actors for the possibilities shifting to renewables, using low-carbon alternative energy.
Read more Expected Outputs (EN): The activities within SHREC project will lead to 9 interregional partner meetings, 1 High Level Conference and 48 Stakeholder Group meetings. During these interregional learning events the main SHREC outputs and results will be produced.
Taking in mind the size of the ERDF and regional programmes, also their governance and partners’ diversity the interregional learning process could be organized very positive and impact on the support for renewable energy related policies will be significant.
SHREC exchange of experiences and interregional learning process outputs will be used to address 8 policy instruments (7 ERDF and 1 local programme) and results with 8 action plans to improve these policy instruments.
8 site visits to explore partners’ good practice examples related to the renewable energy production and usage, shifting to clean energy sources aiming to reduce CO2 emission will be organized.
6 Interactives Workshops, 2 Thematic Seminars related to the project topic and 48 regional Stakeholder meetings will contribute to the project learning process.
Partners estimate that 15 good practices that could be transferred, adopted and used for the improvement of policy instruments addressed will be identified and explored in depth. Joint analysis of good practices will be prepared.
Therefore, we estimate that we will reach out the targets mentioned in the indicators table calculated for the implementation phase. The self-defined indicators are part of the policy instruments addressed and will be monitored and reported by each partner.
At least 130 people will increase their professional capacity due to their participation in interregional cooperation activities related to the support for shifting to clean renewable energy production and consumption.
Estimated amount of ERDF and national/regional programmes/measures influenced by the project is accordingly 5,35 M Euro.
SHREC Communication plan will be prepared. Social media accounts: Facebook and Twitter will be established. The project website content will be filled in and continuously updated. The project leaflet will be designed and distributed. The project poster will be printed and hung in partners premises.
To ensure the effective dissemination the knowledge and good practices collected, and raise the awareness and maximize the results and achievements of the SHREC project, High Level Conference, 6 regional dissemination events to transfer lessons learnt beyond the partnership will be organize. At least 28 appearances in media will occur, 6 SHREC newsletters will be distributed.
SHREC partnership agreement will be prepared and signed by all partners. 6 project progress and 1 final reports will be prepared. 8 Steering Committee meetings will be organized in Phase 1.
Continuous and effective day to day administrative, financial and technical coordination between partners seeking to successful implementation and achievement of all project's objectives, targets and results will be ensured.
