Description (EN):

The cross-border territory of the Basque Eurocity Bayonne-San Sebastián, very marked by its infrastructures and urbanisation, wishes to respond to a new challenge for the European Union: the establishment of a green infrastructure. The creation of the cross-border green and blue network of the Basque Eurocity, with its green component (natural areas + ecological corridors + permanent vegetation cover), and its blue component (rivers + parts of rivers or classified canals + necessary wetlands), will be the privileged tool to protect and enhance biodiversity in harmony with human activity. The project will have 3 main objectives: - To know the green and blue framework of the Basque Eurocity (mapping of ecological corridors) - Develop a territorial strategy and an action plan to consolidate and enhance this framework - To make dialogue "nature" and culture"" in the Eurocity."

Achievements (EN):

Cartographic study on ecological corridors and biodiversity reserves, carried out for the first time on a transboundary level in the area. Preparation of a 2015-2020 strategy and an action plan for the preservation and enhancement of the ecological corridors of the Basque Eurocity. Cross-border school exchange programme. Two professional and school congresses on ecological corridors. Identification, evaluation and classification of ecological corridors and conflict zones and black spots for their recovery. Communication plan aimed at politicians, environmental professionals, schoolchildren and the general public, and communication materials (travelling exhibition, posters, brochures, website, educational kits, videos, etc.).
