Description (EN):

To develop innovative strategies and tools able to promote natural and cultural wealth and favour a sustainable tourism is the challenge that OPEN TOURISM partners have to face to fully exploit their potential and become more competitive. OPEN TOURISM aims in fact to develop and implement a cross-border public-private cooperation strategy to promote and enhance local heritage and favour economic and social development. An innovative strategy will be implemented, based on a new concept of tourism (focusing on a deeper relation visitor-local community); a cross-border governance and marketing model; and a more structured and modern tourist offer. In particular, Italian, Albanian and Montenegrin partners will follow a 3-step path: 1) they will develop a shared model to design and manage policies to jointly boost their attractiveness; 2) they will realize a set of new products (a common brand, thematic itineraries, promotional kit, a Platform, an APP); 3) they will create an extended system of tourist information points with local tourist and economic operators. To meet this ambitious challenge, cross-border cooperation will be fundamental. It will allow to develop a more inclusive and broader network; maximise efforts in finding solutions to common problems; pool resources, expertise and ideas to create synergies and support one each other; develop more comprehensive and effective strategies, products and services; gain from economies of scale. The project will benefit the partnership, public and private stakeholders involved, local tourist and economic operators, visitors, but also local communities as a whole and all territories that will decide to replicate this experience. Important changes are expected : the empowerment of public and private actors involved, the spread of a new idea of tourism based on the relation tourist-territory, the delivery of a qualified, differentiated and non-seasonal tourist offer.

Expected Results (EN): Common action Plans for the smart management of tourist destinations to be adopted by the public authorities of the Programme area.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The project main results are the improved quality of tourism information and welcome service in the cooperation area and created premises to increase and diversify tourist flows in these territories. These are the result of a new model of cross-border cooperation in this sector named Open Tourism, aimed at enhancing local cultural and natural heritage and the strategic role of local communities. The Open Tourism governance structure promotes a cross-border public-private network to develop new tourism promotion strategies and actions. These results will contribute to the development of a Common Action Plan together with other IT-AL-ME territories to promote new tourism strategies based on the tourist-territory relationship and on the use of new technologies.
