Die Idee des Projektes ist es, durch Renaturierungsmaßnahmen von Bachlandschaften verschiedener Art, die Bäche und Flüsse wieder dazu zu befähigen, Wasser länger in der Landschaft zu halten und damit eine Versickerung von Wasser erst zu ermöglichen und im Starkregenfall schon vom Volumen des Bachbettes her mehr Wasser aufnehmen zu können. Die ökologische Aufwertung der Bachlandschaften schafft mit grüner Infrastruktur gesündere Ökosysteme mit einer größeren Artenvielfalt und neuen Lebensraum für diese Arten. Im Projekt sollen an 4 verschiedenen Bachläufen Renaturierungsmaßnahmen durchgeführt werden, die die natürlichen Ökosysteme weitestgehend wieder herstellen und jeweils auch einen Beitrag zum Hochwasserschutz leisten. Diese 4 Bachlandschaften sind der Große Kößlbach, bei dem im Bachoberlauf der natürliche Mäander wiederhergestellt werden soll; im Mündungsbereich des Saagbaches in die Donau soll eine öklogisch wertvolle strömungsberuhigte Bucht für Jungfische geschaffen werden; beim Simbach soll mit der Dammrückverlegung im Mündungsbereich auch das gepflasterte Gerinne durch Laufpendelung und Strukturierung ökologisch aufgewertet werden; Hochwässer des Inns stauen im Bereich des Kraftwerks Perach in den Polderbereich des Weitbaches und des Westerndorfer Grabens, hier soll eine naturnahe Aufweitung der Aue geschaffen werden. Der Beitrag zum Hochwasserschutz durch Renaturierungsmaßnahmen in einer einzelnen Bachlandschaft ist naturgemäß nur von lokaler Bedeutung und für den insgesamt notwendigen Hochwasserschutz nur ein sehr kleiner Beitrag. Daher soll das Projekt über die Einzelmaßnahmen hinaus auch ein Beitrag zur Bewusstseinsbildung bei kommunalen VerantwortungsträgerInnen leisten (Expertenfachtagung, Informationsveranstaltung für Kommunen). Werden in Zukunft viele Renaturierungsmaßnahmen an Bachlandschaften vorgenommen, kann in Summe ein großer Beitrag zum Hochwasserschutz in der oö-bayerischen Grenzregion geleistet werden.

The idea of the project is to enable the streams and rivers to retain water longer in the landscape by means of restoration measures of various types of stream landscapes and thus to allow water to be leaked and, in case of heavy rain, to be able to absorb more water from the volume of the streambed. The ecological upgrading of the creek landscapes with green infrastructure creates healthier ecosystems with greater biodiversity and new habitat for these species. In the project, restoration measures will be carried out on 4 different streams, which largely restore the natural ecosystems and also contribute to flood protection. These 4 stream landscapes are the Great Kößlbach, where the natural meander is to be restored in the upper stream; in the estuary of the Saagbach into the Danube, an ecologically valuable stream-cooled bay for juvenile fish is to be created; at Simbach, the dam relocation in the estuary also aims to ecologically enhance the cobbled coagulation by running pendulum and structuring; High waters of the Inn are stowing in the area of the Perach power plant into the polder area of the Weitbach and the Westerndorfer Graben, here a natural expansion of the floodplain is to be created. The contribution to flood protection by means of restoration measures in a single stream landscape is naturally only of local importance and only a very small contribution to the overall necessary flood protection. Therefore, beyond the individual measures, the project should also contribute to raising awareness among municipal leaders (expert conference, information event for municipalities). If many restoration measures are carried out on stream landscapes in the future, a large contribution can be made to flood protection in the eastern Bavarian border region.

Expected Results (DE): EI 5 - Gewässerabschnitte mit potentiell signifikantem Hochwasserrisiko (Kilometer)

Expected Outputs (DE): Der Mündungsbereich des Simbaches ist mit 2,1 km, der Weitbach mit 4,5 km, der Westerndorfer Graben mit 3 km u. der Inn von Perach bis Passau mit 73 km sind im Referenzdokument als Gewässerabschnitte mit potentiell signifikantem Hochwasserrisiko geführt.
