Description (EN):

The main target of this project is to reunite professionals of prestigious universities in order to study the possibilities of completing the management of municipal solid waste (MSW) by thermal treatment method for recovery of energy. The scientific-technical potential of the universities could be directed to the needs of local, regional and crossborder communities to be turned into account and to contribute to their development. On long term, if the thermal treatment methods for recovery in energy will be applied, they will lead to the removal of landfills and to the increase of energy efficiency. Estimated results are: Involvement of a high number of persons actively participating in environmental actions and awareness raising activities. Three proposals for completing the regional policies with methods and technologies for the thermal treatment of municipal solid waste with energy recovery. A proposal for cooperation in order to recover energy from municipal solid waste by thermal conversion technologies in cross-border area. The „Small scale system for thermal treatment of municipal solid waste” will be set up. Databases with MSW characteristics will be created. As innovative instruments to be realised we mention: Setting up a software application: „ Electronic Monitoring Platform” for the management of data concerning the administration of thermal treatment MSW and study methods in „Small scale system for thermal treatment of municipal solid waste”.

Expected Results (EN):

Promoting of cooperation among specialists and interested factors in the cross-border area will consider: cooperation between the project specialists from the three universities teams, cooperation between specialists and stakeholders and with target groups. There will be created a synergy among specialists in order to solve issues with common traits on MSW management. The guidelines/indications of the stakeholders will be permanently taken into account as they are well in touch with the practical aspects. Workshops and conferences will be organised. Offer of technical support to the key stakeholders in the cross-border area. The actions to be realised such as: analisys, data base, experiments will be focused on elaborating studies which would comprise technical proposals for the thermal treatment metods of MSW, for each region in part. Also, there will be elaborate a study which will contain a common strategy of MSW thermal treatment for the all 3 regions (county). The innovative tools to be created are: ”Electronic Monitoring Platform” and ”Small scale system for Thermal Treatment of Municipal Solid Waste”. ”Electronic Monitoring Platform” will be an application which will contain important data for the study of the MSW thermal treatment and data on the energy recovery. A laboratory will be equipped with a”Small scale system for thermal treatment of Municipal Solid Waste, which will be designed for analysis and experiments on samples extracted from the MSW landfills of the 3 regions (county) involved in the project.
