Description (EN):

The USEFALL project, capitalizing the results of the IPA Adriatic project EX.PO AUS, is aimed at increasing accessibility of the UNESCO sites of Programme Area in order to make cultural heritage a leverage of balanced and sustainable territorial development. The project approach is focused on: a harmonized management strategy for accessibility of cultural sites and strong coordinated marketing activities; definition of ICT based touristic products; educational services addressed to people with special needs and employees in touristic sector.

Achievements (EN):

The project promoted the inclusion and accessibility of people with special needs to 6 UNESCO sites identified in the Area by means of new technologies and smart devices, and raising awareness among cultural and tourist operators. The solutions adopted by the partners have been manifold. Main project outcomes include postcards with special braille technique and relief prints, promotional video in Italian, International and Croatian Sign Language, audio guides and an App dedicated to the Unesco sites with simplified texts to help people with cognitive disabilities, new tactile path inspired by the mosaic decoration of the Basilica dedicated to the visually impaired and cognitively disabled people. Specific training events dedicated to the owners of the monuments, the tourist guides and the tourist operators (Ravenna); multisensory and interactive device to allow a complete experience of the site with The Silent Party methodology. Special earphones and an involving audio track enhance the enjoyment of the visit as an immersive experience (In Padua Botanical Garden); accessible solutions to heritage thanks to ICT instruments for virtual and augmented reality (In the Venice Museum of Oriental Arts); study, analyzing the current state of the area of the Aquileia Port River, identifying the actual needs of people with disabilities (Aquileia); accessibility of the Euphrasian Basilica was improved (City of Poreč); access to the most visited locations of the Palace of Diocletian was improved thanks to the installation of three elevators and a ramp to help people with motor difficulties and a map with information on the accessibility to cultural sites for persons with disabilities (City of Split).
