Description (EN):

Adriatic area will get an innovative response system for most endangered parts of sea with strong and original planning and applicative solutions. Detailed contingency plans will examine EPSs in order to define risks, needed approaches and equipment. For application of plans in case of incident, new technological solution will be developed that is adjusted to EPS’ features affecting the pollution delimiting and cleaning. Project will produce following outputs: adequate and timely approach for responding to sea pollution risk and incidents in EPSs based on detailed contingency plans; developed and tested technological solution and equipment for response in phases; training programmes for response teams and awareness campaigns for considerate use of sea.

Achievements (EN):

It has been three years of intense work, certainly not facilitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has shown how true cooperation can make a difference, leading to valuable results. "When we started implementing this project in 2019, we were living in a different world"" says Marina Dujmović Vuković, Director of the ZADRA NOVA Agency - ""The world before the pandemic, before the price spike, before supply chains broke down. All this, then unthinkable, became reality during the implementation of this project. But with cooperation we have overcome all this and have reached today's stage, the stage where the project administratively ends". A stage in which all the results achieved by the project were expertly narrated and shown to the public throughout the interventions conducted by the project partners. A stage in which it was possible to show how, through PEPSEA, the pilot locations in the Adriatic were successfully and adequately equipped, as well as the intervention teams. A stage where it was possible to show how, together, it is truly possible to defeat marine pollution in the Adriatic.

Expected Outputs (EN):

Given that response centres for sea interventions already exist and are financed by public bodies, once they are upgraded and reorganized to provide adequate and timely response in all phases of risk management, they can continue to operate indefinitely. Therefore, it can be expected that number of inhabitants benefiting from risk management coordinated measures will stay about the same in years following the project implementation.
