Achievements (EN):

It became evident during the micro project, that forest fire risk assessment and management is an issue that concerns large number of organizations managing natural resources or infrastructures on both sides of the border, as well as affecting the societies in general. Effective prevention and mitigation are needed to protect the communities and environment.

Expected Results (EN):

The Development of forest fire risk assessment capacity and collaboration in the context of climate change - Firebrake micro project resulted in four outputs. The first output, interest group analysis, consisted of identifying the various stakeholders that are associated with forest fires and the risk assessment. Their roles in the field of forest fires was studied and reported. The second output, gap analysis, was conducted by consulting some of the stakeholders to better understand the challenges and resources used for forest fire monitoring and management in general. In the third output, a study of the available tools and solutions for effective forest fire management was done and combined into a reinforcement and implementation plan, in which also the capabilities of different stakeholders to utilize these solutions was assessed. Data availability was also discussed in the reinforcement and implementation plan. The last output was to combine all the findings of the project into an information package, which was then delivered to different stakeholders, as well as published to the project website, for further use of any entities interested in the subject.
