Description (EN): The objective of this project is to improve capacity and increase possibility to start and develop handicrafts related business in the program area.

Achievements (EN):

The achievements of the project: 1. The status and professional prestige of handicrafts among target groups and customers increased. 2. The business opportunities and entrepreneurial skills of artisans are improved. 3. The exhibition and presentation possibilities of crafts have increased. 4. A territorial handicraft brand is developed through the development of common methodologies in the field of craft. The links between crafts, design, culture, and socio-economic development are strengthened. The project deliverables are: - Survey report: within the framework of the research “Entrepreneurship in the field of crafts in the Republic of Karelia, Northern Karelia and Oulu region: challenges and conditions for business development”, 2020 - Report on good practices and business models of craft entrepreneurship, 2021 - Survey on handicrafts and tourism, 2021 - Study: Craft entrepreneurship and business competence in the target areas of the Northern Crafts ID project in North Karelia and North Ostrobothnia, 2022 - Handicrafts podcast “Shito-Krito”

Expected Results (EN):

The following changes are expected: 1. The status and professional prestige of handicrafts are improved among the target groups and customers. 2. The business opportunities and entrepreneurial capacities of craftsmen are improved. 3. Exhibition and presentation opportunities for handicrafts have grown. 4. Territorial handicraft brand is strengthened through the shared methodologies in the sphere of crafts. Interconnections between crafts, design, culture and socio-economic development are strengthened.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The project will produce the following main outputs: 1. Information on the current state and barriers of handicrafts related business and possibilities to enlarge the business on the program areas produced. 2. New additional training programs in the fields of business, eg. digital marketing, service design, customer based service skills, product knowledge, management are developed for craftsmen and students. 3. Professional skills, competences and business spirit of the craftsmen, students of professional colleges and universities are improved. 4. Cooperation between craftsmen-entrepreneurs on the programme area increased. 5. Marketing and self-positioning skills of craftsmen businesses increased.
