"Ce projet fait partie du plan ALPIMED": Le projet est un des leviers de développement économique proposé dans le cadre de la stratégie et propose une meilleure gestion des ressources naturelles et la prise en compte de l’impact du changement climatique dans les orientations du développement économique local. Pour ce faire, trois grandes typologies d’activité sont prévues : l’étude d’impact sur les effets du changement climatique sur les territoires du PITER afin d’améliorer à moyen terme la connaissance de cette thématique ; des actions expérimentales pilotes visant à réduire la consommation d’eau et d’énergie dans les stations de ski et les refuges ; la sensibilisation des publics sur les impacts des changement climatiques à travers la diffusion d’outils bilingues. Ce PITER souhaite co-construire des modèles d’intervention sur son territoire afin de faciliter l’émergence d’un schéma de développement à l’échelle transfrontalière. Le Plan souhaite identifier les leviers et les conditions favorables au développement économique local des territoires périphériques de montagne et ruraux, tout en valorisant les atouts du territoire et les échanges. Il agira sur les leviers suivants : meilleure gestion des ressources naturelles et attention au changement climatique ; valorisation du patrimoine naturel au travers de l’éco-tourisme ; maintien de la mobilité transfrontalière et utilisation de l’innovation et accès aux technologies de l’information pour renforcer le tissu économique local.

"This project is part of the plan ALPIMED": The project is one of the economic development levers suggested in the framework of the strategy and offers better management of natural resources and the taking into account of the impact of climate change in the guidelines of local economic development. To achieve this, three major typologies of activities are planned: the impact study on the effects of climate change on the territories of the PITER in order to improve the knowledge of this topic in the medium term; pilot experimental actions aimed at reducing water and energy consumption in ski resorts and shelters; public awareness of the impacts of climate change through the dissemination of bilingual tools. This PITER wants to co-build models of intervention on its territory in order to facilitate the emergence of a development schema at cross-border scale. The Plan wants to identify leviers and favourable conditions to local economic development of peripheric territories of mountain and rural, promoting in the same time territory advantages and exchanges. This plan will act on the following leviers: a better management of natural resources and a particular attention to climate change; valorisation of natural patrimony thorough eco-tourism; maintaining of a cross-border mobility and utilisation of innovation and access to information technologies to enforce the local economic.

"Questo progetto fa parte dell'piano ALPIMED": Il progetto si propone come una delle leve di sviluppo economico identificate all’interno della strategia e propone di arrivare ad una gestione maggiormente efficiente delle risorse naturali, integrando l’impatto dei cambiamenti climatici all’interno degli orientamenti politici che mirano a favorire lo sviluppo economico a livello locale. Il progetto prevede tre grandi tipologie di attività: la realizzazione di studi basati sui dati climatici esistenti in modo da migliorare la conoscenza della tematica a medio termine sull’intera area del PITER ; la sperimentazione di alcune azioni quali la riduzione del consumo delle risorse idriche ed elettriche nelle stazioni sciistiche e nei rifugi; la sensibilizzazione e la realizzazione di azioni di divulgazione e di materiale bilingue destinato ai pubblici target di riferimento. Questo PITER vuole co-costruire dei modelli di intervento sul suo territorio per facilitare l’emergenza di un schema di sviluppo a livello transfrontaliero. Il Piano vuole identificare le leve e le condizioni favorevole allo sviluppo economico locale del territorio periferico di montagna e rurale, promuovendo nello stesso momento gli vantaggi del territorio e gli scambi. Il Piano agirà sulle leve seguente: migliora gestione delle risorse naturale e attenzione portata al cambiamento climatico, valorizzazione del patrimonio naturale attraverso l’eco-turismo, mantenimento della mobilità transfrontaliera e l’uso dell’innovazione tecnologica e accesso alle tecnologie dell’informazione per rinforzare il tessuto economico locale.

Ski resorts and ecological footprint: When climate change invites you to snow: The ALPIMED CLIMA project continues its study of the territory in order to reach the definition of a transboundary climate charter and propose territorial planning tools that better respect the environment, particularly relevant in these years when we are facing the emergency of global warming. Sometimes it’s useful to analyse situations that could disorient us if we don't shed light on what can turn into “false myths.” One of the issues that is the subject of numerous debates, especially in our cross-border area, where the Alpine mountains are an undisputed actor who attracts many holidaymakers in winter, is that ski resorts are major contributors to greenhouse gases. In fact, studies from the Polytechnic School of Turin show that the carbon dioxide emitted in this context is much lower than expected. In fact, the researchers collected data on electricity and fuel consumption over several seasons at the Limone Piemonte and Prato Nevoso ski resorts in Italy and compared them with the number of day ski passes sold. The result can be summarised as follows: Every skier produces a maximum of 12 kilograms of carbon dioxide per day, which corresponds to a 100-kilometre drive or the transport of a kilo of strawberries from America to Europe outside the season. Promising initial results that allow us to consider concrete measures to reduce them. Most of the emissions come from three sources: the operation of ski lifts, the slope preparation and the production of artificial snow. Thanks to research by Italian scientists, it has been shown that the operation of ski lifts causes the greatest carbon footprint, but this can be significantly reduced by a simple gesture such as speed adjustment. An experiment will also be carried out in France this summer at the Isola 2000 station. As far as the preparation of the slopes is concerned, an experiment also found that fuel consumption could be reduced by 15 % thanks to IMREDD researchers and the implementation of geolocation on piste vehicles.
