Hands-on higher Aerospace Education through Nanosatellite Student Challenges. NANOSTART allows university students to be part of a whole real space engineer project which includes conception, design, implementation and documentation Thus, several teams of students participate in the building of a nano-satellite which will be sent to the moon. Thanks to Nanostar, students can enjoy a training of quality while the nano-satellites sector is further promoted within Southwestern Europe where it is still not very used.

Expected Results (EN):

To provide university students with a real and practical experience in nano-satellites, the objective of the project is not to create a complete nanosatellite, but to implement the tools that will allow designing, manufacturing and testing a nanosatellite, totally or partially. STEPS: 1) Collect the complementary resources of each partner and define the rules of use within the network. 2) Deploy the software of the Center National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) in the information infrastructure of each partner and connect them to obtain a collaborative engineering tool. 3) Develop working methods within this network: tools and documents based on the experience of each partner. Once these elements of work are established, the project provides a test of use that will consist of having several teams of students work in parts of a nano-satellite for a space mission project to the Moon. The main result of the project is to provide students with the experience of a real spatial engineering process that includes all stages, from conception and specifications, to design, assembly, integration, testing and documentation; that is, the whole process through networks.

Expected Results (ES):

Proporcionar a los estudiantes universitarios una experiencia real y práctica en nano-satélites. El objetivo del proyecto no es fabricar un nano-satélite completo, sino poner en marcha las herramientas que permitirán diseñar, fabricar y probar un nano-satélite, total o parcialmente. PASOS: 1) Recopilar los recursos complementarios de cada socio y definir las reglas de uso dentro de la red. 2) Desplegar en la infraestructura informática de cada socio el software del Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) y conectarlos para obtener una herramienta de ingeniería colaborativa. 3) Desarrollar métodos de trabajo dentro de esta red: herramientas y documentos basados en la experiencia de cada socio. Una vez que estos elementos de trabajo estén establecidos, el proyecto prevé una prueba de uso que consistirá en hacer que varios equipos de estudiantes trabajen en partes de un nano-satélite para un proyecto de misión espacial hacia la Luna. El resultado principal del proyecto es brindar a los estudiantes la experiencia de un proceso de ingeniería espacial real que incluya todas las etapas, desde la concepción y las especificaciones, hasta el diseño, el montaje, la integración, las pruebas y la documentación; es decir todo el proceso a través de redes.

Expected Results (FR):

Le défi du projet est d’offrir aux étudiants une véritable expérience sur les nano-satellites. L’objectif du projet n’est pas de fabriquer un nano-satellite complet mais de mettre en place les outils permettant à terme de concevoir, fabriquer et tester tout ou partie d’un nano-satellite, le tout en réseau. La première étape consistera à recueillir les ressources complémentaires de chaque partenaire et à en définir les règles d'usage au sein du réseau. La seconde étape consistera à déployer dans l’infrastructure informatique de chaque partenaire les logiciels de conception et à les connecter de manière à obtenir un outil d’ingénierie collaboratif. Une troisième étape consistera en l’élaboration des méthodes de d’ingénierie et de travail collaborative, incluant la création d’un espace de travail dédié. Il s’agira d’outils et de documents élaborés à partir de l’expérience de chaque partenaire. Une fois ces éléments de travail en place, le projet prévoit un test d’utilisation qui consistera à faire travailler en équipe des groupes d’étudiants sur des parties d’un nano-satellite pour un projet de mission spatiale vers la Lune. La sortie principale du projet est de donner aux étudiants l'expérience d'un véritable processus d'ingénierie spatiale impliquant toutes les étapes, y compris la spécification, la conception, l'intégration, les essais et la documentation, le tout par un travail en réseau. Chaque partenaire apporte pour cela une expertise propre, permettant ensemble d’avoir toutes les compétences nécessaire à la réalisation d’une mission spatiale. NANOSTAR permettra à l’Europe du Sud de former des étudiants à la pointe du savoir-faire en matière d’ingénierie spatiale et d’ingénierie projet, ce seront les futures stars des nano-satellite.

STUDENT CHALLENGES: Multidisciplinary teams of 5 students will engage in solving design, development and testing challenges. PHASE 1 (2019). Student teams from all universities compete to create the best preliminary design of a Moon-flyby CubeSat mission according to a given set of requirements. Winners receive an award and are tasked with the systems engineering of the rest of the mission. PHASE 2 (2019). In Phase 2 starts the detailed design, development, and testing challenges. Each challenge will be approached by a minimum of two competing teams from different institutions, under the guidance of the faculty. Teams must communicate with each other to ensure consistence and create a single consistent system. RESULT (2020) The output is an integrated and tested engineering model of the whole mission.

STUDENT CHALLENGES: Equipos multidisciplinares de 5 estudiantes participarán en la solución de desafíos de diseño, desarrollo y testing: FASE 1 Equipos de estudiantes de todas las universidades compiten para crear el mejor diseño preliminar de una misión CubeSat Moon-flyby según un conjunto determinado de requisitos. Los ganadores recibIrán un premio y se les asignará la ingeniería de sistemas del resto de la misión. FASE 2: En esta fase comienza el diseño detallado, el desarrollo y las pruebas. Cada desafío será abordado por un mínimo de dos equipos competidores de diferentes instituciones, bajo la supervisión de la facultad. Los equipos deberán comunicarse entre sí para garantizar la consistencia y crear un sistema único y coherente. RESULTADO: RESULTADO: El resultado será un modelo de ingeniería integrado y probado de toda la misión.

DÉFIS DES ÉTUDIANTS: Des équipes multidisciplinaires de 5 étudiants s’emploieront à résoudre les problèmes de conception, de développement et de test. PHASE 1 (2019). Des équipes d'étudiants de toutes les universités se font concurrence pour créer la meilleure conception préliminaire d'une mission Moon-flyby CubeSat conformément à un ensemble donné d'exigences. Les gagnants reçoivent un prix et sont chargés de l’ingénierie des systèmes du reste de la mission. PHASE 2 (2019). Au cours de la phase 2, les problèmes de conception, de développement et de test détaillés commencent. Chaque défi sera approché par un minimum de deux équipes en compétition provenant d'institutions différentes, sous la direction de la faculté. Les équipes doivent communiquer entre elles pour assurer la cohérence et créer un seul système cohérent. RÉSULTAT (2020) Le résultat est un modèle technique intégré et testé de l'ensemble de la mission.
