The AMOR project supports SMEs and especially start-ups to develop products with a wireless radio connection. These high frequency products typically operate in unlicensed frequency ranges of the frequency spectrum. A wide range of applications (e.g. IoT, e-health, wearable devices, sensor networks, Industry 4.0, home automation, smart meters, radio identification, etc.) work in this frequency spectrum. The market volume is expected to reach 7 trillion electronic devices in 2020. Although the use of license-free frequency bands is free, there are numerous legal restrictions to allow coexistence with other users of the same frequency band and the same radio cell. These requirements limit the transmission power, the occupied bandwidth, the way in which the transmit power is switched on and off and how the frequency bands are assigned. Before the market launch, evidence must be provided, that the requirements are met. Companies are therefore faced with the challenge of developing high frequency circuits that work with frequencies in the GHz range. However, the design of high frequency circuits in the GHz range is very different from classic low-frequency and digital circuit designs: signals can not be measured with standard measuring devices, component tolerances of the components play an important role, and even the electrical connection of components is a challenge in the high operating frequencies. Both the circuit design and the legal regulations require special know-how and expensive measuring devices. The latter is particularly a major financial burden for start-ups and SMEs, up to an obstacle to market entry, which oblige them to either rent the equipment or to buy services and know-how from third-party providers. The purchase of all necessary instruments is usually far too expensive for a small company. The AMOR project addresses both challenges by offering training seminars especially for start-ups and SMEs and, as the core of the project, developing an affordable macro modeling platform for high frequency systems and devices. On the one hand, this modeling platform enables the measurement of essential high frequency parameters at a price that can be financed by start-ups, and on the other hand, the creation of mathematical models that can be used in the development process in simulation software. In order to enable an inexpensive platform, commercially available components are largely used.

Das Projekt AMOR unterstützt KMUs und insbesondere Start-Ups, Produkte mit einer drahtlosen Funkverbindung zu entwickeln. Diese Hochfrequenz- (HF-) produkte arbeiten typischerweise in unlizensierten Frequenzbereichen des Frequenzspektrums. Eine breite Palette von Anwendungen (z. B. IoT, E-Health, Wearable Devices, Sensornetzwerke, Industrie 4.0, Hausautomation, Smart Meter, Funkidentifikation usw.) arbeiten in diesem Frequenzspektrum. Das Marktvolumen wird im Jahr 2020 voraussichtlich 7 Billionen elektronische Geräte betragen. Obwohl die Verwendung von lizenzfreien Frequenzbändern kostenlos ist, gelten zahlreiche rechtliche Beschränkungen, um die Koexistenz mit anderen Benutzern des gleichen Frequenzbands und derselben Funkzelle zu ermöglichen. Diese Anforderungen beschränken die Sendeleistung, die belegte Bandbreite, die Art und Weise, wie die Sendeleistung ein- und ausgeschaltet wird und wie die Frequenzbänder zugewiesen werden. Vor Markteinführung muss der Nachweis erbracht werden, dass die Anforderungen erfüllt werden. Die Unternehmen stehen daher vor der Herausforderung, HF-Schaltungen zu entwickeln, die mit Frequenzen im GHz-Bereich arbeiten. Das Design von HF-Schaltkreisen im GHz-Bereich unterscheidet sich jedoch stark von klassischen niederfrequenten und digitalen Schaltungsentwürfen: Signale können mit Standardmessgeräten nicht mehr gemessen werden, Bauteiletoleranzen der Komponenten spielen eine bedeutende Rolle und selbst die elektrische Verbindung von Komponenten stellt bei den hohen Betriebsfrequenzen eine Herausforderung dar. Sowohl der Schaltungsentwurf als auch die gesetzlichen Regularien erfordern spezielles Know-how und teure Messgeräte. Letztere stellt insbesondere eine große finanzielle Belastung für Start-ups und KMU, bis hin zu einem Markteintrittshemmnis, dar, die sie dazu verpflichten, entweder die Ausrüstung zu mieten oder Dienstleistungen und Know-how von Drittanbietern zu kaufen. Der Kauf aller benötigten Instrumente ist für ein kleines Unternehmen in der Regel viel zu teuer. Das Projekt AMOR adressiert beide Herausforderungen, indem es Weiterbildungsseminare speziell für Start-Ups und KMUs anbietet und als Kernstück des Projekts eine erschwingliche Makromodellierungsplattform für HF-Systeme und -geräte entwickelt. Diese Modellierungsplattform ermöglicht einerseits die Messung wesentlicher HF-Parameter zu einem für Start-Ups finanzierbaren Preis und andererseits die Erstellung mathematischer Modelle, die im Entwicklungsprozess in einer Simulations-Software genutzt werden kann. Um eine kostengünstige Plattform zu ermöglichen wird weitgehend mit handelsüblichen Komponenten gearbeitet.

Projekt Amor podporuje zejména začínající, malé a střední podniky, aby vyvíjely produkty využívající bezdrátových rádiových spojení. Tyto radiofrekvenční (RF) produkty obvykle pracují v nelicencovaném kmitočtovém pásmu frekvenčního spektra. V nelicencovaném frekvenčním pásmu funguje široká škála aplikací (např. IoT, eHealth, nositelná zařízení, senzorové sítě, průmysl 4.0, domácí automatizace, inteligentní měřiče, rádiová identifikace atd.). Očekává se, že do roku 2020 objem trhu dosáhne 7 bilionů komunikujících bezdrátových zařízení. Ačkoli je použití nelicencovaných kmitočtových pásem bezplatné, platí mnoho zákonných omezení, která umožňují koexistenci s jinými uživateli stejného frekvenčního pásma a buňky. Tyto limity omezují vysílací výkon, obsazenou šířku pásma, způsob zapínání a vypínání vysílacího výkonu a způsob přiřazování kmitočtových pásem. Před uvedením daného zařízení na trh, musí být prokázáno splnění požadavků. Společnosti proto čelí výzvě návrhu RF obvodů, které pracují v rozsahu GHz pásem. Nicméně, návrh RF obvodů v pásmu GHz se však velmi liší od návrhů klasických nízkofrekvenčních a digitálních obvodů: signály již nelze měřit pomocí standardních přístrojů, tolerance hodnot všech komponentů též hrají důležitou roli, a dokonce i elektrické připojení komponentů na vysokých provozních kmitočtech jsou výzva. Návrh obvodů se znalostí právních předpisů vyžaduje speciální know-how a drahé měřicí přístroje. Konkrétně jde o značnou finanční zátěž pro začínající, malé a střední podniky. Jednou z možností je buď pronájem zařízení, nebo nákup služeb a know-how třetích stran. Nicméně, nákup všech nástrojů, které jsou potřeba, je pro malý podnik obvykle příliš nákladný. Projekt Amor řeší oba problémy poskytnutím potřebných školicích seminářů speciálně pro začínající, malé a střední podniky, přičemž ústřední součástí projektu je vyvinutí dostupné platformy umožňující vytvořit makro modely pro RF systémy a zařízení. Na jedné straně tato modelovací platforma umožňuje měření základních RF parametrů za přijatelnou cenu a na druhé straně vytváření matematických modelů, které lze použít při vývojovém procesu v simulačních programech. Pro účely nákladově efektivní platformy je do značné míry pracováno s komerčně dostupnými komponentami.

Die zu erwartenden Ziele des Projekts AMOR sind: 1. Eine Makromodellierungsplattform für die Messung und Simulation von Bauelementen und Schaltungen der Hochfrequenztechnik. 2. Zwei öffentliche Seminare zur Weiterbildung von Beschäftigten mit Schwerpunkt Start-Ups und KMUs und Vermittlung von Industrie- und Forschungskontakten zwischen den Partnerregionen. 3. Ein Workshop zur Präsentation der Ergebnisse für interessierende Firmen. Einweisung von Fachpersonal in die Nutzung der Makromodellierungsplattform. 4. Fortsetzung der Zusammenarbeit in angewandter Forschung (Horizon 2020, ECSEL etc.) der Antragsteller und Austausch von wissenschaftlichem Personal. Als Zielwert werden ein gemeinsamer Forschungsantrag zu Projektende angestrebt. 5. Einbindung der Makromodellierungsplattform in die Lehre. 6. Die Werkzeuge und Verfahren werde kostenfrei zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Hardware-Komponenten müssen von NutzerInnen selbst beschafft werden.

Expected Outputs (CS):

Očekávané cíle projektu AMOR jsou: 1. Makro-modelovací platforma pro měření, simulaci komponentů a vysokofrekvenčních obvodů. 2. Dva veřejné semináře pro školení zaměstnanců se zaměřením na start-upy, malé a střední podniky a zprostředkování průmyslových a výzkumných kontaktů mezi partnerskými regiony. 3. Workshop k prezentaci výsledků zainteresovaným společnostem. Instruktáž a kvalifikace personálu pro makro modelování a používání platformy. 4. Pokračování spolupráce žadatelů v aplikovaném výzkumu (Horizont 2020, ECSEL atd.) a výměna vědeckých pracovníků. Cílem je společný návrh výzkumného projektu na konci projektu. 5. Integrace makro-modelovací platformy do výuky. 6. Nástroje a postupy budou poskytovány zdarma. Komponenty hardwaru musí být zakoupeny samotnými uživateli.
