Description (EN):

As a MED hub for Energy Efficiency (EE) innovative and shared solutions, the Efficient Buildings Community will anchor a MED community around energy issues that public organisations face in order to promote modular projects’ outcomes and increase their impact on public policies.Indeed, in the MED area, the majority of public buildings is not adequately designed to reduce their energy consumption and improve their EE performance. This is partly due to a lack of awareness of owners and managers and knowledge gaps regarding common answers to this transnational challenge.By establishing a joint transnational framework around energy efficiency in public buildings to propose solutions to energy issues faced by public organizations in the MED area, the Efficient Buildings community will contribute to increase the capacity of owners and managers of public buildings to design and implement better energy efficiency practices.On the other hand, the Efficient Buildings Community will promote its results at national and EU levels to influence policies and call for new national and European regulatory framework that take into account MED specificities and the innovative solutions proposed by the community.

Achievements (EN):

During the third reporting period the City of Nice, as Lead Partner, carried out the following activities:- Steering Committee Meeting held on 26/02/2022- Regular monthly Conference Calls back to back with Communication Calls led by CMCC and ADENE.The LP undertook the usual administrative, technical and financial management of the project activities and prepared and submitted the fourth period progress report. The payment claims were submitted on 31 March 2022.Under the coordination of IREC all partners contributed to the quality assurance methodology and produced quality assurance reports for the deliverables.Work also continued on the implementation of the EBLLs (Greek, Portuguese).Energy Cities led the North South city partnerships. Energy Cities oversees 3 of the 6 partnerships and was able to organise a first in person partnership meeting for each of the three during this period.All 3 partnerships met 3-4 times for an online exchange before the partnership meeting took place. Mostar (BA) and Karşiyaka (TR) met from 11-13 May in Mostar, Potenza (IT) and Mostaganem (DZ) from 21-23 June in Potenza. Both meetings included site-visits of pilot projects, both retrofitted public buildings and RES (integrated) installations, discussions with local stakeholders and time to exchange on the PrioritEE respectively the Impulse Toolbox. In Mostar, the programme also included a reception with the lord mayor, while in Potenza earthquake safety was a special topic. The LP organised a Joint Euro-Mediterranean Workshop with meetMED and SEACAP 4 SDG projects, as part of the activity 5.6 (Synergies with Euro-Mediterranean institutions). It was the 7th webinar, and presented a panorama of replicable tools and methodologies to the attention of local authorities, as well as local, regional and national energy agencies around the Mediterranean basin. The series of 8 webinars was completed on 01/03/22 by the last one on EE in schools organised by UPatras and CRES. The second EU breakfast was co-hosted online by EuroACE /Renovate Europe on "Enabling conditions for building renovation in the Mediterranean area”, crossing perspectives from the local level, the construction sector and the policy side. The Greek national parliamentary debate was held on 15/03/ 2022. CRES also produced the technical paper providing quantitative support to the Joint Position Paper.CMCC, IREC and ENEA continued contributing to the Green Living Areas module of Euromed Academy.
