The Technical University of Lübeck (Department of Applied Natural Sciences), the University of Lübeck (MINT section) and the University of Southern Denmark (Mads Clausen Institute) in Sönderborg have set themselves the goal of developing and establishing a joint German-Danish master's course in the field of medical technology in the German-Danish Interreg programme region as part of the planned Interreg project "MikroMedTech". The planned international study course "Medical Microtechnology" will further develop the current strengths and core competencies in the German-Danish programme region in the fields of health and life sciences and strengthen the cooperation between science, industry and clinics in the field of health technologies in the programme region. The programme strengthens internationalisation and has an impact beyond the German-Danish region. The master's course explicitly addresses the field of miniaturisation, one of the five fields of innovation in biomedical technology. On the one hand, this includes the field of minimally invasive surgery (endoscopes, surgical techniques) and on the other hand, implants for drug application. The integration of sensors and actuators leads to new diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities. Within the framework of this project, a new study course with a new structure and content will be developed and operation of the same will be started. By using existing study modules of all participating universities, which will be newly combined with each other, a new cross-border study offer will be created in the programme region. This combinatorial approach makes it possible to develop and accredit the study programme, to admit first students and to evaluate the first results of the study programme within a project period of only three years. The composition of the contents, their design and the first applications will take place with the involvement of regional medical technology companies and regional hospitals. This has the advantage that both customer groups can actively contribute their requirements for graduates to the development of the German-Danish study offer. In addition a multiplicity of network partners from the entire program region declared their readiness for support by LoIs.

Die Technische Hochschule Lübeck (Fachbereich Angewandte Naturwissenschaften), die Universität zu Lübeck (Sektion MINT) und die University of Southern Denmark (Mads Clausen Institute) in Sönderborg haben es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, im Rahmen des geplanten Interreg-Projektes “MikroMedTech” einen gemeinsamen deutsch-dänischen Masterstudiengang im Bereich der Medizintechnik in der deutsch-dänischen Interreg-Programmregion zu entwickeln und zu etablieren. Der geplante internationale Studiengang “Medical Microtechnology” entwickelt die heutigen Stärkepositionen und Kernkompetenzen in der deutsch-dänischen Programmregion in den Bereichen Gesundheit und Life Sciences weiter und stärkt die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Wissenschaft, Industrie und Kliniken im Feld der Gesundheitstechnologien in der Programmregion. Das Angebot stärkt die Internationalisierung und erzielt Ausstrahlungskraft über die deutsch-dänische Region hinaus. Der Studiengang adressiert explizit den Bereich der Miniaturisierung, eines der fünf Innovationsfelder der Biomedizintechnik. Dieser umfasst einerseits das Feld der minimal-invasiven Chirurgie (Endoskope, OP-Techniken) andererseits z.B. Implantate zur Medikamentenapplikation. Die Integration von Sensorik und Aktorik führt zu neuen Diagnose-und Therapiemöglichkeiten. Im Rahmen dieses Projektes werden ein neuer Studiengang mit neuer Struktur und Inhalten entwickelt und der Betrieb desselben aufgenommen. Unter Nutzung bestehender Studienmodule aller beteiligten Hochschulen, die miteinander neu kombiniert werden, wird ein neues grenzüberschreitendes Studienangebot in der Programmregion entstehen. Durch diesen kombinatorischen Ansatz ist es möglich, im Rahmen einer lediglich dreijährigen Projektlaufzeit den Studiengang zu entwickeln, zu akkreditieren, erste Studierende aufzunehmen und die ersten Ergebnisse des Studienangebotes zu evaluieren. Die Zusammenstellung der Inhalte, deren Ausgestaltung und die ersten Anwendungen werden unter Einbezug regionaler Unternehmen der Medzintechnik und regionaler Krankenhäuser stattfinden. Dies hat den Vorteil, dass beide Abnehmergruppen ihre Anforderungen an Absolventen aktiv bei der Entwicklung des deutsch-dänischen Studienangebots mit einbringen können. Dazu haben eine Vielzahl von Netzwerkpartnern aus der gesamten Programmregion durch LoIs ihre Bereitschaft zur Unterstützung erklärt.

Den Tekniske Højskole Lübeck (fagområde anvendte naturvidenskaber), Lübecks Universitet (sektion MINT) og Syddansk Universitet (Mads Clausen Instituttet) i Sønderborg har sat sig som mål inden for rammerne af det planlagte Interreg-projekt “MikroMedTech” at udvikle og at oprette et dansk-tysk master-studieforløb på området medicinteknologi i den dansk-tyske Interreg-programregion. Det planlagte internationale studieforløb “Medical Microtechnology” videreudvikler de aktuelle stærke positioner og kernekompetencer i den dansk-tyske programregion på områderne helbred og life sciences og styrker samarbejdet mellem erhvervsliv, industri og klinikker inden for helbredsteknologierne i programregionen. Tilbuddet styrker internationaliseringen (undervisningssproget er engelsk) og har en strålekraft, der også rækker ud over den dansk-tyske region. Studieforløbet behandler udtrykkeligt et af biomedicinteknologiens fem innovationsfelter, nemlig området miniaturisering. Dette omfatter for det ene den minimal-invasive kururgi (endoskoper, operationsteknikker) og for det andet f. eks. applicering af medicin. Integrationen af sensorik og aktorik fører til nye muligheder for diagnose og terapi. Inden for dette projekts rammer udvikles et nyt studieforløb med ny struktur og nyt indhold, hvorefter det startes op. Med udnyttelse af bestående studiemoduler fra alle deltagende højskoler, som kombineres med hinanden på en ny måde, vil der opstå et nyt grænseoverskridende studietilbud i programregionen. Med denne kombinatoriske indfaldsvinkel er det muligt inden for rammerne af en projektløbetid på blot tre år at udvikle studieforløbet, at akkreditere det, at optage de første studerende og at evaluere studietilbuddets første resultater. Sammenstillingen af indholdene, deres udformning og de første anvendelser finder sted med inddragelse af regionale sygehuse og virksomheder inden for medicinteknologien for at udvikle det dansk-tyske studietilbud lige fra begyndelsen på en sådan måde, at også de, der inden for disse to aftagergrupper er interesseret i de færdiguddannede, kan bidrage med deres studiekrav. Et stort antal netværkspartnere fra hele programregionen har gennem LoIs erklæret deres beredskab til at støtte forehavendet.

Achievements (EN):

Within the reporting period, the fundamentals were laid for establishing a master's degree program in "Medical Microtechnology" that combines the strengths of the partnering universities at both sides of the border - medical technology in Lübeck and microtechnology in Sonderburg. The aims of this course, to train qualified young professionals and develop synergies for medical technology, are continuously pursued. Work package 1 The project office created the needed infrastructure to enable the three involved partners to work together optimally. In addition to writing project handbook, manuals, work plans, templates etc., this included the development of an online collaboration platform and a meeting structure. Responsibilities and roles were defined to ensure an effective progress in the project activities and an efficient internal project communication process. Work package 2 The partners have agreed on a project logo and corporate design. A project website is currently under construction. Press releases in German and in Danish were published at the websites as well as in local newspapers. Work package 3 Based on the necessary agreements on the curriculum and the study examination regulations, the self-report was developed and submitted in time. Many agreements between the senates of the universities, the Foundation Council and the Convention of the Faculty of Applied Sciences were necessary and led to success. Full approval of the program is dependent on a positive outcome of the accreditation process. The submission of the self-report and the annexes (module handbook, study and examination regulations, etc.) to the German accreditation agency ACQUIN for the accreditation of the study program has been completed. Work package 4 General guidelines for student counselling have been developed based on the application process for the students and the completed lecture plan. Structures and documents in all universities' administrations were integrated, e.g. international offices, registration offices, student organisations, marketing staff, internal committees. Work package 5 The project partners started to plan the first summer school for summer 2021, including planning the academic content and developing the time plan for the summer school lectures and exercises. Work package 6 The framework for the hospital-industry platform was established by creating a shared contact data base (SharePoint). The partners jointly pursue the idea to combine the hospital-industry platform of this project with the innovation platform of the project Access & Acceleration. In summary, it can be said that almost all activities in the work packages have started as planned. A challenge that had to be reacted to right at the beginning of the project is the Corona pandemic and corresponding consequences for all meetings, information channels and events. The project partners are aware of this challenge and have already taken measures to respond to it. Overall, the project is on a very good way.
